Compatibility
The Stainless Steel Container works with all full-size Vitamix blenders per Vitamix website.

What makes this incompatible? I know newer blenders have SELF DETECT, so legacy blenders wont detect it. But the base wont connect with the blender?

I found a thorough review comparing this attachment to a Cuisinart Custom 14, which is pretty much the defacto standard according to Americas Test Kitchen, and many other reviewers.

Basically the conclusion is "The Food Processor attachment just doesn't deliver that same level of class-leading performance. It is fine, but not outstanding. The Cuisinart is. I am excited to use it because I know the functionality and results will be exemplary, just like the Vitamix is for blending."

That and the Cuisinart on sale is cheaper than this attachment alone, a quick SD search shows 100, 135, 145 for the Cuisinart Custom 14.
