it's not for all.....pacific surfliner alone covers a lot of grounds.

"Sale prices are valid on all routes except Pennsylvanian and Keystone Service (between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh only), Pacific Surfliner, New Haven-Springfield Shuttle and 7000-8999 thruway connecting services"
I'm going to thumbs this up, but the deal title is totally misleading -- this is for all coach tickets system-wide, not just the Downeaster. From this [thepointsguy.com] ThePointsGuy article:

I got my second shot, hate driving and have been meaning to visit some friends that are ~5 hours away, so will look to take advantage of this deal for sure.
Great way to get from NYC to Boston, yes it should be faster but the trains are well kept and fellow travelers are usually friendly - it's been 70 years since the US invested in major national transportation infrastructure (interstate highways) so don't complain that the trains are slow compared to EU, UK, Japan, or China

Haven't taken Amtrack in around 10 years, I wonder how much they've changed in all that time.

Probably not much. I have really enjoyed them for east coast jaunts. Overnight and spacious means I can sleep and wake up in New York or Boston. This isn't the craziest sale they've had, but seems to be more encompassing so I'll probably plan a random trip for the fall.

Thanks OP. I've only been on Amtrak once (Dallas to San Antonio), way back in the 90s as a kid. Might consider a trip w/ the kids. They've never been on a train trip before.

Here's a map of their routes.

Is there still no easy way to view dates or routes by price? I'm not picky on places or dates, just want to see what's in my budget.

DC to Vegas $134 one way. Not bad. Get a room and it's $1138. Ouch.
