So is $599 the "new normal" sale price on these? The sale price was $479-$499 for a long time and I never pulled the trigger, hoping to find one closer to $400. Now it seems those price ranges aren't coming back. What's the thoughts on that?

I think I'll stick with my $50 DCC-1200 Cuisinart!

Yes it seems like the base prices have all jumped $100 since 2020. Right now the best way to get a deal is to jump on a "sale" like this one where the price is back to pre-covid level and try to use the 20% Bed Bath and Beyond coupon in person or over the phone (hit and miss success) or try to get somewhere like Best Buy to match the BBB coupon-applied price.

Cuisinart Brew Central DCC-1200 is a brew coffeemaker, it cannot compare with an espresso coffeemaker.

What? Why is this so expensive now? I got mine around $450 almost 2 years ago. It's a great unit but was routinely available for$480-500

So did a new model come out or why is everyone selling specific unit this for around this price?

So I use a $39.99 steam expresso maker.

I fill the MAX amount of coffee (have a burr and use the finest setting), I fill the MAX amount of water the machine can take and I microwave about a half a cup of skin milk. I then put it into a 30oz tumbler and I good for the day.

I know I am ignorant... I really don't care about the milk frother.

I don't think this machine can make as strong as an expresso as my machine due to the amount of coffee that I put in. I don't like expresso's but I do love my long coffee lattee.

I also think that to make 4 cups of expresso, it would take at least twice the amount of time that it takes me right now (if not 5 times longer).

Lastly, it is not the money.... (I know I have the cheapest thing possible).

Of course, but if I wanted espresso, I'd just go to a Starbucks. Let them pay for and maintain the equipment. But I agree, it would look pretty in the recycling dumpster.

But this is a terrible espresso maker. Just get a Gaggia as an introductory espresso machine.

An Aeropress and a cheap Krups grinder with good technique rivals our Rancilia Silvia V1 and Baratza Vario. No, it's not espresso, but it's good.

Yes. The new models up and down the line have the 3 second warmup times (PID). Once you go PID, you will be hard pressed to go back to the older tech found on these (unless you're retired I guess, or never in a hurry).

The newer models also have better frothers, and grinders.

But sadly, you lose the dial that this one has. WHY, Breville?!

Maybe the next gen models will have a dial, AND the other upgrades. Not holding my breath though. I guess they thought the dial makes it look old and obsolete, but those things are super useful, looks be damned.
