Sorry, but there was never a similar I5 for $300 during BF.

The 11th Gen WERE shipping during BF, but the deals were only on the 10th Gen.
Huge Generational Difference.

The SCREEN on this laptop is actually a quality screen in both NITS and Resolution.
The BF deals did not have this quality screen....

The BUILD Quality for the mid-tier laptops, this is a high-quality build with better chassis, keyboard, trackpad, etc.. etc....

The SSDs were smaller on bottom-tier....

And no....In General, there were not any long-standing deals for any i5s at $300. Perhaps a 5-minute deal, but those were the older i3s....Any i5 deal that was not OOS in under 5minutes for the i5 was closer to $350.

And if you are lucky to have the AMEX deal, then this is only $420....
Blowing away even BF deals if you have the AMEX deal.

No, it is not high at all and in fact one of the cheapest price. And What is that idiotic logic of paying over $500 for a 14 incher? You know, there are 14 incher costing $2000 as well. The Price of a Laptop is not just decided by the Screen size.

I am looking for a laptop to do photo editing (photoshop, luminar). would the one in their outlet store with i7 and 16DB memory a better laptop for my application?
There's one at Dell outlet for 675 with I7 and 16GB of memory.

Careful when you say "SAME" laptop......

The i7 will have a slightly better GPU so long as it is the 11th GEN.
The 11th Gen i5 GPU, however, is MUCH better than 10th Gen i7 GPU.

However, you may want a system with a dedicated GPU for editing.

BUT it recommends a dGPU with 4GB of Ram....So you may really want to get a laptop with a dGPU.

Terms states that unless the unit is defective, you could be charged a restocking fee. But then again, you may have to cook up a reason for return if it comes to returning it without any actual technical issue. One thing right on top of my head that's very subjective but still could be an annoyance to many is the silver keyboard. Even though it's backlit it's almost as if you are typing blindly unless you are well versed with the position of the keys.

hmm temped to get this for my mom she does some work on her 8 year old laptop now. Mainly just excel and quickbooks and emails stuff nothing intensive. this seems to be more then enough iwould think.

I got this for my mom to do similar things: mostly Word, email, and internet browsing. Definitely more than enough power imo.

I like everything about this... except one thing. The silver keyboard with white characters. Low contrast- too hard to read. (Why do they do that? Grrr.)

I wonder if there's any way around that?

Dell does manufacture this same laptop in a different color, called "eden", that comes with a black keyboard. Seems to be sold only in india. (See link below.)

So I wonder if it would be possible to replace the silver keyboard with a black one.

Or am I missing something?
