The 2020 iPad Pro 11 inch can now be had at $549 ($649 price -$100 with the coupon). Is it worth getting it over the 2021 11 inch?

The M1 and thunderbolt upgrade alone weights at least 250$ so I don't think 2020 model is the right option for the extra 100off

I use it mostly for sketching on procreate (this is why I need the 120 Hz display on the iPad Pro over the Air), browsing, movies and YouTube. I am thinking if the M1 is going to make a difference for these tasks and if the $100 extra is justified for my needs

seems the shipping date for 12.9" mode is during Jun 28 - Jul 12. and last week of may for 11inch models...so the bigger model has more wait times jus an FYI for folks who ordered it will be 2months atleast

At least on Verizon, the $200 requires an unlimited plan. We've been on a shared 12 GB plan (two iPhones, an Apple Watch, and (until recently), an iPad mini). Only went over the 12 GB twice in ~5 years. Not worth adding $30 to my Verizon bill to switch to an unlimited plan. I realize at some point (likely when 5G becomes more prevalent) I'll need/want to switch to unlimited, but for now I just get annoyed at all the deals that require an unlimited plan.

But good call out to those on unlimited plans who can use it!

I briefly thought about it- a new iPad Pro for $549 is great- but I think the new processor and CenterStage camera are worth getting the new one. If you use the iPad for 5 yrs, then it's only $20 a year to get the better one.

just to future proof you procreate for 2 more years of use . i think going for 2021 helps. but if you are plans of upgrading every 2-3 three years you can choose 2020. also the thunderbolt allows you to extend display so you will have bigger screen to look if you occasionally need one

Besides, my point is that when it's sale meets their inventory allocation, it disappears. They don't keep it static or change shipment dates. It's possible I'm giving Costco too much credit but again, just saying it's a datapoint and not making conclusions.

Any thoughts on using the Warehouse pick-up option for the new iPad Pro? It still costs $5 as does the delivery. But with delivery date being unknown, I'm worried it will come on a day I'm out of town.

The pick-up option would give me 7 days to head to my local store to get it. Any reason to not do that?

That's what I did. Who knows when it will arrive. More secure for me to get from nearby warehouse.

For entertainment and sketching purpose, the A12Z is more than enough. It's still miles ahead of anything out there. Not everybody want to use the Ipad as a laptop replacement and need external storage (thunderbolt).
Battery longevity is the only factor that will lead u to replace either Ipad at some point, not the CPU unless your need changes.
