Should I get this or the Samsung s7+? Looking for long term android use… I'm an apple user but need something from the other side
This isn't true Android, good for reading and watching videos. However, if you want something comparable to your iPad, go s7+. The price point is a lot higher as expected.

S7+ is the flagship android tablet. Fire 10 is a budget tablet that runs Amazon's version of android that can be hacked to look like normal android. If you can afford it, S7+ hands down. I have both and it's not even close. Fire 10 is fine for watching videos and light browsing though. Battery life is great!

Looks like they are clearing out the old stock for the new ones that has an increase in RAM.
They never increase the RAM to be enough. Every Fire tablet I have had has issues switching apps. You can dream on that they will increase the RAM in the next iteration.

They have the HD8+ now which has 3GB. 3GB still isn't great but way better than only 2.
Edit: Don't have to dream anymore LOL. Here's[amazon.com] the new one and it does have 3GB of RAM like I was suspecting.

Might want to check out the newest one coming at end of May -
Fire HD 10 plus has 4gb ram, that's a big improvement.
This is an excellent tablet for the price. I have the 7th generation from 2017. It works very well. I have no problem switching between any apps. I installed the Google Play Store and many common Android apps. There are many websites that provide easy instructions for how to do that. Of course, this device is slow compared to tablets that cost more with faster chips and more memory. Nonetheless, this device works fine. Sure, you might need to wait a second or even a few seconds for an app to load or complete a task. But, in my experience with this device, any waiting is only for a second or two or three. I enjoy using this device and I have always been happy that I purchased it.
So it looks like Amazon no longer gives away 20% off for trade in without sending in the old device?
Plus... Amazon has become more exclusive on trade-ins.
Last year, I sent a Fire 8 in working condition, it did not have any scratches or dents
Amazon had originally promised $10 off toward the purchase of a new one but they renege and claimed it was worth only $5.
I complained to customer service but they claimed that I was SOL.
