I've been using my $28 refurbished unit for a while and so far so good. I'll have to check if it's a v5 because DD-WRT would be nice.

If you load DD-wrt onto it, then there should be a VPN client mode option I think.

Might pick one up just to use as a wireless bridge to my primary AC3150. Not sure if this version of AC1750 has WDS, google seems to think so.

My Ac3150v2 does not have a WDS option, but if it's the source AP/router I'm not sure this is necessary

wish this was on Amz since I have GC to burn there, but cheapest there is $51 for refurb

I think the my $28 referb I bought back in December 2019 from B&H was a v5. I'll check when I get home.

I have this router, running stock firmware, and I'm happy with it.

However, I also purchased a TP-Link AX1500 WiFi Extender, but the extender won't let me hardwire it be a true extender. It will just act as a dumb repeater.

I'm not sure what is meant by WDS here, but If I get a second AC1750, will that let me hardwire it and then let my devices switch between without it acting like a dumb repeater and adding an additional hop?

I normally don't comment but I had issues with this router as it had dropped connection to my devices. I ended up getting a Netgear Nighthawk wifi 6 and haven't looked back.

Wondering if anyone can help me out - I have an AC1750 as a hand-me-down from 3+ years ago and works great. I was told some time ago that there was an updated version that allowed remote reset/restart of the router. The features I've reviewed don't say this explicitly, other than "smart" features. Could anyone advise what model number or version should I be looking out for?

Sometimes when I'm away on work travel our router needs a reset so the smart devices and security cams that my handicapped mom rely on are functional again. Remote restart would be amazing since she's not tech savvy. Thank you in advance!!
