This is only ideal if you need to fit a smaller TV or plan to use it as a large monitor. In any other case, you should get the 55".

It doesn't "cost more" to make 48 vs 55. The way the manufacturing is set up, they cut 48 w/ 77 on the same panel instead of 55 w/ 65.

The combo of 55/65 sizes are more popular than 48 and 77. So supply becomes limited on 48/77, they keep prices high, run less sales, and demand settles where it does.

They can always lower price on 48's and 77's if they wanted to shift consumer demand in that direction a bit, but they don't need to. 48 is fairly popular among some gaming folks and they are willing to pay for a 4K 120Hz display w/ freesync/gsync. 77 is also serving the premium market of folks wanting high end large displays.

Internally, they likely track sales closely and segment 55/65 as their mainstream products, 48/77 as their premium paying market.

like the other person said, the upgrade is so minor that one can safely buy a CX and not be worried about it. In fact some reviews showed the CX to be brighter.

I was also planning on a C1. But got a CX 55 from bestbuy for $1349 with 5 year warranty. Also just got the free bluetooth speaker in from the promo LG is running. They sent me a PL7 speaker worth $130-180.

Best deal right now is finding the cheapest CX you can find and then get the free speaker through the promo.

Convenience. I believe the 48 came out after the 55. The 55 was frequently cheaper than the 48.

From a manufacturer's stand point, I believe they are able to produce more displays at the 55 inch size than the 48 which leads to lower costs.

Isn't the 55 in the same price ? What would be the advantage of going with this smaller tv for the same price ?

The 48 inch is great for a large monitor where as the 55 is a little to large. Since it runs at 120hz and obviously has great color it can be useful for all sorts of pc applications including of course gaming.

So a gamer would want the 48 vs the 55 because the 55 is too big for gaming ? Does the smaller 48 in have better response times or something ?
Computer monitor???

Also yes these days manufacturers cut these tvs out of one very large piece of glass and they have less left over glass cutting 55 inch tvs then 48 inch. This is why the majority of tvs are now either 65 or 55 inches

55 is good for couch gaming. 48 is large but useable as a desktop monitor (I sit 28-30in away and it's perfect)

The C1 (2021 version) is coming out any day. I have the 48-inch ordered. This may be a good deal, but people should consider that a new model is literally days away. There are some well-done youtube videos showing differences between the CX and the C1.

I was originally planning to get the C1, but I'm not confident in it's availability soon, especially at Costco. And since the C1 only offers very minor upgrades to the CX, I'm happy with $250 off on the CX instead. Probably won't see the C1 on sale until the fall.

I bought a 65" CX (just installed it over the weekend) and wow, the picture quality is absolutely phenomenal. Everything from watching dolby vision movies, to gaming on my series x and ps5 is stunning. I didn't believe the oled tv/gaming hype and now I'm sold. Oled all the way for me. This is replacing my Sony x900h and there's just no comparison.

It's so tempting to get this 48" for my pc but my wife would probably kill me. Especially now with Mother's Day this week..........

I got a $100 off anything $500 or more promo code so stack that on here to take another $100 off makes it real tempting. Essentially eliminates the tax. I've read so many articles and watched all the various youtube videos about using the 48cx as a computer monitor it's very tempting. Might be too big as a monitor though, some youtubers have complained of eye/kneck strain so I don't know if it's a good choice as a daily work monitor as well or just use it for gaming. Wish LG had a 32-40" 4K OLED then it would be perfect monitor size. Rtings and youtube reviews mentioned the text sharpness when this is set as a PC monitor is just okay and not as sharp as dedicated 4K PC monitors. So that's kind of concerning to me if I'm going to be using this for years reading text.

Was reading about the new microLED monitors coming out on tftcentral but they are several grand and OLED still beats them exept for brightness. Just concerned about burn in as a computer monitor, seems very unlikely from what most places say but lots of static elements on Windows 10. Or if I'm playing the same game with static HUD elements for hours on end everyday I'm still concerned that might burn in over time, seems there are safe guards LG built in like pixel shift and ABL so maybe any fears are unfounded.
