The reviews seem to be all over the place which suggests QC issues. Not a bad price for some thunderbolt 3 expansion

I've been tempted to try this but all the complaints about overheating give me pause. I already tried the Cal Digit 3 and it didn't work with my setup or was defective.

Seems steep for having only 1 HDMI port.

You should give CalDigit support a call. They do advance replacements if they cannot solve it through their troubleshooting steps.

These guys are on top of it. Chat, phone, or email are all out of their Placentia office.

The whole team are great to work with. The primary reason we go back to CalDigit is because of their customer support.

Took a leap despite complaints. Works well for me. Dell Precision 5500 to three monitors (had to get a DisplayPort splitter for third monitor). Been going strong for around 10 months now. The 85W is less than the 130W of my OEM power brick but it's never an issue. Occasionally if I pop the lid on my laptop the third monitor will go, but if I unplug and plug in the DisplayPort splitter it works again.

Do not regret purchase and have not needed any tech support.

I did contact CalDigit. No problem with them. They responded quickly and suggested I return/exchange (defective). I returned it to Amazon. This was earlier on in the pandemic and I didn't want to mess around with another potential return because trouble shooting led me to think there were conflicts/issues with laptop chipset/processor. I did get it working better by turning off all the performance/efficiency "features" in my laptop bios, but I didn't want to have to do that long term with a brand new laptop.

Price is certainly right but the reviews are indeed a bit scary.

OWC's TB3 Docks are a good alternative. The main model is $249 and matches this for the most part, but with better reviews, particularly for supporting 5K or 2x 4K60 monitors.

Their Pro line looks awesome in that it supports 10Gb ethernet, but the PD is only 60W.

For the price there shouldn't be so much doubt, so many questionable issue, etc. Pass. Pass. Pass.

I would not listen to the complaints about overheating because from what I seen, the majority of them do not even know what the term overheat means. They are saying it overheats based on the fact the enclosure gets warm to the touch. Of course the enclosure is going to heat up because the enclosure is the cooling solution for this device.
