I'm pretty sure that's the case. I really thought the Mini would sell more. It's got all of the features of the larger phone and is $100 cheaper. Folks just don't want to size down their screens anymore for the most part. I had full intentions of buying a Mini this year but when I actually held it I couldn't bring myself to go back down to that size. Still think it's kind of amazing it has all of the same specs of it's bigger counterparts.

With the exception of battery life. Source: own a Mini.
Bought silicone case on sale for the mini. Have used it once. It just adds to much bulk and makes it less mini! Have dropped the thing countless times with screen protector on. Only 1 small scratch / chip in the black paint. It's built like a mini tank.
My point is they are not identical with the only exception being screen size. The battery life is also different. (7:28 vs 8:25). As is the fast charge rate.

yeah, so far it's been lateral from my 2020 SE which wasn't great. iPhone battery life on smaller phones suck. I went to the mini from 2020 SE because I wanted the front IR and missed the original SE size and the capability to use it with one hand without awkwardness. Now I want it back because I miss unlocking my phone before it even leaves my pocket. If I could do it again I would've went with the pro since the Mini size wasn't as big a deal to me as I thought it was, so to speak.
If I were to choose one, I'd go with silicone because it's easier to keep clean and won't show MagSafe ring wear.
I also liked the silicon case but after 2 months of use and 1 drop on wood flooring the edge toward the corner chipped off. I asked for warranty replacement which I did receive after some hurdles. On my replacement, I dropped it again, on plastic garage tile, and the edge chipped again, also with a deformed corner. As much as I liked them it's an eyesore with the chipped edges. I am not sure if I want another one.
I don't know how they wrote this article and don't mention the word "battery". I was very interested in the mini until I saw the reviews on the battery life.
Same deal on Amazon. These are terrible cases. Buyers beware
Absolutely wrong opinion. Great case that feels very nice and premium. Fits perfectly on the iPhone 12. Does not feel like the $2 cases you buy on Amazon, buttons are perfectly aligned, edges are hard and durable.
the magsafe logo should've been color matched with people's iphones but mine is white so I don't have an issue with it.

I've got an iPhone 12 mini, and I've never exhausted the battery in a day -- and that's with 5G set to "Auto" mode. At most, I might get down to 20 percent before putting it on the bedside MagSafe charger at night.
But then again, I'm not on my phone all damn day long either. My work machine is a MacBook Air (M1), so I'm on that most of the time. Maybe if I spent hours upon hours a day staring at my phone, the battery life would be a problem...

I'm sorry, people don't want small phones.
