They are not usually worth the price they are asking, but at these prices (if you are ok with the color) they are pretty much a very good deal. It works like any other insulated bottle though. You're just getting a more luxury brand.... which is all the rage in modern society.
Honestly yes... I have a few and the work great keeps water cold and coffee hot...
Costco 2 pack 40oz bottles goes on sale from time to time for about $17. I only use it for room temp water so I can't comment on its ability to keep things cold/hot.

I take it there are probably a few alternatives that work about the same, any recommendations?

Found it, Thermoflask 2 pack for $17.99, I'll give those a try, thanks for the suggestion.

RTIC and Thermoflask come to mind. Lots of chinese knockoffs on amazon/ebay too, but I personally wouldn't get those. The two brands I mentioned have a good track record already. They already have good prices but have even better deals on holidays sometimes. Thermoflask can sometimes be found at costco in a two pack, although they only sell one design.

If you have iced water, it keeps the water cold for almost the whole day as long it's not sitting under the sun. My gf uses it for hot water and she said it holds up the heat pretty well.

I'm sorry but if you only use the bottles for room temp water, why bother getting insulated bottles at all?
