Yes and it allows for better line of sight of the blade when making a cut.

I have this model and the one before this one.
This newer model does not have a trigger switch which you can control the speed while cutting. It's just an ON/OFF switch and a speed knob.

I'm positive that one has the variable speed control.

Interesting. Good to know. Not sure I like that design change

So is the barrell grip worth it over the standard with a trigger. I have that one and my dad loves it, was going to buy him this

This was nearly a good jigsaw finally from Dewalt.

However, they still can't manage to make a decent cut line blower.
At least they realized a light would be nice, but when all it does is light up the mound of dust in front of your blade, it becomes worthless. It's such a simple problem that everyone seems to yell at Dewalt to fix, but they never do, and it's frustrating.

This particular model I enjoyed a lot, until I realized it wasn't variable speed. It's full speed, or nothing, so it can get away from you on curved cuts. Especially if using a 5ah battery because of the weight distribution and the way its designed.

Tbh, I have 3 cordless 20v Dewalts, and surprisingly, I prefer the regular 20v version. With that one I ran some 6mm tubing that I duct taped to the "dust blower" (so all the air is blown into the tube) and just taped it to the side and wrapped it around to where it blows at the area in front of the blade... but it still barely moves any air.

The Dewalt gas a great motor, and blade system, but the Bosch I have just outperforms them because of its overall function. Dewalt could have one of the better cordless jigsaws if they just tweaked them.

If he has standard one (I think it's the 331) he might not like this one. Most people don't care for the design compared to other barrel grip jigsaws out there.

So it's tough to say if he would like it.

Nice find OP Thanks. For those concerned this saw has a variable speed dial and then the trigger just delivers all that power as selected.

Yes it's a dial. So many times I slow down or start from zero. I hate the dipswitches like on my router. Wish this had a trigger.

Yeah I love the bosch, but hate the cord.
