I bought some at Costco for 169 late last year. I think Wally and Amazon had same price then. Costco gets you much better return policy than any of the other sources.

As someone with no experience buying apple products or from woot. Can I be enlightened as to why woot is poop and whether buying this product (to gift to an apple obsessed sibling) from woot is worse/better than elsewhere?

afaik people think woot is poop mainly because people have had bad return experiences with them. I've used them about 6 or 7 times with no problems. I don't buy stuff that I might want to return though.

Best Buy will price match Woot. I was successful...
And if you are lucky, you can get same-day shipping. I ordered in the morning and after lunch it was delivered by some new service called Roadie (Roadie.com) from a Best Buy store about 30 min from my house.

My wife was begging me for a new pair as her gen1's don't hold a charge. $90 for a new battery...f that.

Lots of deals from Amazon warehouse just remember you won't be able to get AppleCare+ on warehouse sales if they were an estimated first sale longer than 60 days ago.

You can try to submit your receipt to apple but usually they will deny the AppleCare+ if they notice it says used on the receipt.
