Unless you got some special deal craftsman's lifetime warranty only applied to hand tools.

The craftsman battery tools from Sears (both the 19.3V C3 and the 20V] are completely different tool lines than what Lowes and Ace Hardware sell.

The 20V that was sold by Sears is not compatible with what is sold by Lowes. I would think they are under no obligation to help you out.

I started off with the Craftsman C3 line. Many of their later tools were rebadges of what Ryobi used (miter saw, 18ga nailer, etc.).

Wasn't happy when they sold the line and started from scratch because of the battery incompatibility issues. Took a hard look at what they were producing and saw exact replicas of Kobalt and DeWalt tools in regards to form factor and appearance. Didn't feel like investing in a tool line that was going to play games and rebadge certain tools but make batteries proprietary. Just an FYI

I have this same question. My 20v bolt on battery has lasted very well. Know I will need another battery, so at this rate why not get another tool too!

I got sucker into Craftsman C3 19.2volt line years ago, not messing with Craftsman cordless again. I switched to Ryobi about 3 years ago and wish I had gone with Ryobi to begin with.

Pretty hard for them to be rebadged kobalts when kobalt is made by another company. Rebadged dewalt and porter cable is more realistic.

Just get the Makita 18v brushless sawzall (tool only) for $137.50. They have a deal on it right now (which is hackable) at Home Depot.

Basically, buy the sawzall + 2ah battery for $199. Return the battery and get the sawzall for $137.50. <- There's a section to choose the tool + a free gift
Stay with 1 battery system and get a tool that will last a LONG time (batteries will go bad before the tool does).

Nobody knows how Craftsman will perform in the long run (although Stanley Black & Decker paid a lot of money for the "name"), but the current Craftsman cordless tools sold at Lowes and here at Ace Hardware is the same company who manufactures DeWalt (top-tier), Porter Cable (formerly mid-tier... to be replaced by Craftsman?), and Black & Decker (lower-tier) power tools. Basically, this "new" Craftsman power tool line is completely unrelated to the old "Sears" Craftsman line (other than the name).
