Need your opinion. Have XS 64 fully paid off and have 11 Pro 512 GB not paid off. Will cost me $400 as pay off amount . Any deals here if I trade in for the 12 or 12 Pro? How much will I pay for the 12 or 12 Pro 256 GB after the $830 trade in credit ? Thanks

Might have sounded misleading.

I meant that sometimes Verizon has those promos (Target Verizon promos) where the discount is instant, at signing, not via credits. I am not aware of any currently ongoing, but there were a few in the past for iPhones and Google Pixel phones.

What Verizon deal is instant discount (for a free iPhone with trade in)?

Is it ? I thought if you pay off your phone, the credits you get move to the account level and not on that line where the "line" then becomes eligible for upgrade or another promotion. I had promo credits drop off without me doing anything at all on that line and a call to them got the credits back in whole instead of monthly.
Let me rephrase "the promo you got is still attached to your account", Tmobile's promotion is assigned to your device, IMEI, once you get your phone now the phone is attached to your account. then you pay off the phone early, the promo credit is still there linked to your phone's IMEI which is in your account.

so If you trade in this Tmobile phone for a different carriers' promotion then there is no way tmobile system can track and stop the promotion. It is like you have your phone without you putting Tmobile SIM card in it.

on the other hands, If you trade in this Tmobile phone for another Tmobile promotion, then the system will terminate the prior promotion and start a new promo. This is how Tmobile's promotion is designed.

Think about it, if you can take advantage of their promotion over and over like every 6 months, then they will lose money since they make profit off of you from the monthly plan.

here is a reddit thread if you are wondering and you can debate on this. lol.

I am new to this. If I trade in a device, such as iPhone XR. I got 24 month credit $830. I pay full for a iPhone 12 Pro and get a new line. After 2-3 month, I can unlock my iPhone. If I give up or port out to other carrier,What happened to the rest of credit (still a lot after two month)? Is that possible to get money instead of credit?

ok I see your points now. using the same device (on eip) to upgrade a newer phone will have issue. but if we buy another phone (ex: iPhone 8) to upgrade then no issue. correct? of course, will paid off 1st eip first.

This is counter to what many other people have reported. In fact, the very first response in that Reddit thread disputes what you are claiming.

The key here is that the phone needs to be paid off. At that point, the promotional credits are moved to the account level, not at the line level. This is documented here:

Locked. Request an unlock once it's paid off. Some have gotten lucky requesting it prior to paying it but that's ymmv

Because you leave before the 24 monthly credit has been issued, you forfeit the remaining credits. Need to stay with T-Mobile for 24 months to get the full amount.

yes, if you buy an Iphone 8 from Swappa or something then trade it in, then there is no problem at all.
