Up to 830 is because if you buy 12mini it will have trade in credit or only $730 and not $830 and it you buy 12pro or pro max then you will only get $830 and rest will be on you. That's what upto $830 means so yes iPhone 8 will get you upto $830 depending on the device you choose
Where is Costco? They use to have similar deal as Tmobile but not lately. Wonder if we didn't kill the golden goose by canceling "new line" after getting the rebate.
For those of you trying to get a phone from SWAPPA like a iPhone 8 or S9 series, make sure you do order from an individual seller where the item/images clearly display the listing number.

In that case it's a unique listing offer and the IMEI will be displayed on the sales page right after your purchase. If you order good quality or spend $10 more for mint you should be golden. Once purchased on the sales page you will see the serial number (IMEI):

If you order from an enterprise seller with generic images and none displays the unique listing number the IMEI will NOT show up and you may have to wait until they are back in the office on Monday and the deal could be over.

That would seem like you are then getting double credits for the same line? When they ask for a payoff for me, they ask for the balance of the old phone in full. How do you get the credits to move over?
It's automatic.
See their Recurring Device Credit page:
https://www.t-mobile.com/support/...al-credits

You may have one Recurring Device Credits (RDC) promo per line at a time. To get a new Recurring Device Credits (RDC) promo and keep your current credit, you must pay off the existing EIP first.
If you pay off your EIP early, you'll continue to receive the promised Recurring Device Credits (RDC) as an account-level credit through the remaining months of the promotional credit period (up to 24 or 36 months).

I have A71 5g from previous deal with T-Mobile. Can I trade that in if it's not fully paid off? T-Mobile currently credits me for the monthly payment so I don't have any incentive to pay off and lose credits. Any idea how I can trade in and retain credits on A71? TIA

What phone have you used to get 175 credit? I have used an 64 gb ipn 8 and the credit is 79.
Thank you
Max credit is 830 it doesn't matter what phone you trade in (as long as it is in the list, best deal is for iPhone 8 assuming it costs so less in used market) it will show $175 but it reduces the monthly credit amount accordingly to make it $830 total.

Ah bummer. Alright thanks.

Additionally, you can't pay off an EIP by deducting the remaining Recurring Device Credits (RDC) installments from the remaining EIP balance. The full EIP balance must be paid to close out the plan.

alright just spoke with tmobile rep. not sure who is correct but tmobile rep said i would lose the remaining credits on my account. Its only $60 left so I dont care if i lose it since $830 is way more value that I would get for my iphone XS. But like others have said, if I continue getting the credits then thats just cherry on top.

Microcenter had iPhone 8's for $190 each. (unlocked verison 64GB model the others were $200)

Out the door with 2 clean ones for $402 with tax.

Gave them to the Tmobile down the street for 2 iPhone 12's. $80 TIV each on the spot to cover taxes and activation + $1500 more in bill credits the next 24 months.

Please HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to us Please
Wow! Shows 199 online and that's what my store had, too. Lucky you, I guess? Peace

Any additional amount needs to be paid upfront. If you decide to get 128gb you need to pay $50 in storage difference upfront plus taxes and shipping per phone.
This is not entirely true in my experience doing EIP. Yes, tax on the full price of the phone is immediately payable. Everything else is factored into the EIP and NOT immediately payable.

For example, say I buy the 128gb iPhone Pro for $999.99 per this promo. I must pay tax immediately on $999.99. Also, shipping and assist fees if not waived. Then the EIP is set up for $999.99 / 24 months. That is $41.67 per month.

Next, the promo credit is factored into it. In this case, it is max of $830. Say that I trade in my iPhone 8. The device valuation is $100 (for example). That $100 gets applied to my account within two bill cycles once my trade is approved.

So now my credits remaining are down to $730, which divided by 24 months is $30.42. So every month for 24 months, T-Mobile will bill me $11.25 ($41.67-$30.42) to pay off the device in full.

You guys are not understanding one simple logic. unofficially you are signing a contract for 24 months to get the deal and you are giving up your 500 worth phone as a tradein.
You're forgetting one simple fact: no new line activation required.
An iphone 8 isn't worth 500. And most people have been with t-mobile for years, what's another 2 years?

Is Iphone 8 worth $500 right now? and I'm only paying $20 tax included per month. Why would I leave TMO? This deal is for someone who is happy with TMO and not planning to jump ship anytime soon.
Man I pay $173 for 8 lines with unlimited everything in The ONE plan plus they pay Netflix every month, T Mo Tuesday and bunch of other useful features. No one can beat that pricing for foreseeable future.

Has anybody gone to a store and do the trade in? I think they screw up the promotion on my line.

Did you pay anything up front?

I'm reading the exact page you mention but I don't see it the way you do:
Seems you lose credit if you upgrade again (jump)

Losing promotional credits

We want you to take full advantage of our promotional credit. So, please keep in mind the following, which will disqualify you from continuing to receive promotional credits:

Exchanging or returning a device outside of the offer window, where the qualifying EIP is closed
Canceling or changing the plan or service that is required for a credit promotion
Not signing your E-signature or completing the EIP during the promotional period
Performing a JUMP! upgrade to a new device from a device with a credit
Returning one phone purchased as a BOGO (buy one, get one) offer (BOGO promotions require that you keep both phones and qualifying service)
