Up to 830 is because if you buy 12mini it will have trade in credit or only $730 and not $830 and it you buy 12pro or pro max then you will only get $830 and rest will be on you. That's what upto $830 means so yes iPhone 8 will get you upto $830 depending on the device you choose
Where is Costco? They use to have similar deal as Tmobile but not lately. Wonder if we didn't kill the golden goose by canceling "new line" after getting the rebate.
For those of you trying to get a phone from SWAPPA like a iPhone 8 or S9 series, make sure you do order from an individual seller where the item/images clearly display the listing number.

In that case it's a unique listing offer and the IMEI will be displayed on the sales page right after your purchase. If you order good quality or spend $10 more for mint you should be golden. Once purchased on the sales page you will see the serial number (IMEI):

If you order from an enterprise seller with generic images and none displays the unique listing number the IMEI will NOT show up and you may have to wait until they are back in the office on Monday and the deal could be over.

Do you need to wait 24 months to unlock the phone, or can you unlock it earlier?
40 days and you need to technically pay off the EIP.

Went to Costco after reading another users experience from this thread.
The place was PACKED but the wireless Kiosk center was empty.
Very nice associates.
Upgraded 2 lines to the 12 128gb. Will be shipped to me and get here in 5-7 business days. I am in no rush.

Traded in 2 iPhone 8's that I purchased from past cricket deals.
2 payments were done. 1 was for $116 tax for the 2 iPhone 12's and the other was $100 for the 2 GB upgrade, from 64gb to 128gb

Wish the limit was 4 like past deals.

Print outs for the $30x2 Costco cash cards printed.

I hope they have a similar fathers day deal!!

I included a pic of the Costco sheet that has the list of phones and their values as well as a screen shot of the text message tmobile sent me for the trade in. It's $82 per iPhone 8 since I have the 128gb version iPhone 8.

I was thinking the same but ended up jumping on it. I feel much safer to sit on a ip12 waiting for the best trade in value than A71. Btw, I have been using both Android and IP for a long time(company phone has been IP). I actually prefer top notch Android, but IP is far from painful to switch to either.
Same here. Got in on the $125 A71 5G + Buds combo deal back in December. Still has a pretty decent resell value on Swappa around $300. I'm super cheap and will usually take the time and effort to save, but I figure in this case it's not worth it to sell it and to buy a $200ish iPhone 8 this weekend, when I know the A71 is in perfect condition, paid off, and not blacklisted and will have no trade in problems. Not to mention how much the A71 trade in value will likely plummet holding onto it rather than getting in on this deal.

My trade-in iphone 8 is rose gold, which is not included in the model list. The closest one in the list I see is gold. Does the color really matter for trade-in device? Or can I just choose the gold one for my rose gold trade-in device?

It's fine they check the imei anyways

same, my 8 needs a new screen but if i can do a generic screen and get $830 for it as trade in im 100% down to go get a china screen and send it in!
yea, it's definitely worth it if you are staying with tmobile!
this is a crazy deal since they allowed the 8 to get the full $830 credit

My assessment also involves having to pay off ip12 when another Android trade in opens up. I recognize we continue to get credits but it's upfront payment at that time.

You're considering holding ip12 or selling it?
Also think about in the old days, it costs a whole lot more time or money when you want to get a new flagship every year and got rid of the old one. This definitely outweight having to pay off the phone 1 year earlier. I am generally thrify but I also realized that phone is the most used thing I have, so I wont mind splurge a bit on it.

plus you don't have to deal with the $20 'assistance fee' that tmobile stores and chat/phone support charges.
You don't get charged the $20 if you do it via the app with no assistance.
The bad thing is, that we have to ship the phones out to Assurant. The office is located in Texas.

if you do it in a tmobile store, they keep your trade in device on the spot.

Check the https://my.t-mobile.com/eipjod overview, you'll see the active EIP plans. Best from web browser and you need to log in.
Hmmm, interesting. This time I did see burried in the print the estimated start date for equip billing is May 6, but no mention of trade credit anywhere. I guess it'll be interesting to see how the next bill turns out if that's the case. I hope they didn't drop my credit and steal my old phone!

Cash card and you save $7 on shipping (online) or $20 upgrade charge at a T-Mobile store.

What if they reject my phone? I has small minor crack (not that noticeable). I am losing my current monthly credit ($10 x 10 more months), so if they don't accept my phone when i send it, I'll be losing a lot.

Just wondering why you are selling? You're only doing one upgrade? I wish they had a limit of 4 lol

Where is the crack? On the screen? It will more than likely be rejected. I wouldn't risk it. A few people said that a cracked back does not matter. It's the screen crack that will get 0 value
