According to the sign, this deal runs 5/24 thru 7/18

The tool choice will vary based on the starter kit. Since the starter kit and tool are added as separate items, the starter kit can be returned resulting in a deal on the tool. The prices shown next to the tools below are the tool price assuming the starter kit is returned. Another way to get the lower price on the tool is to select store pickup for the tool and delivery for the starter kit - and then cancel the starter kit.
If you happen to want just the starter kit, then purchase it with the highest priced free tool and return or cancel the tool.

Don't let the $199 M18 Pack out Shop vac distract you from the fact that the Diablo Saw blades are also on sale.
Good info - I have the other half - I saw the starter kits at a local home depot and they were 2x 4ah batteries with a charger. Couldn't get pricing yet either. I think it will be 199, personally.

How i can use the hackable??
The simplest way is once you've added the starter kit and free tool to your cart, when local inventory allows, choose store pickup for the free tool at your local store, and choose to have the battery starter kit shipped to your home. Complete your purchase and then go to your order history, and immediately cancel the battery starter kit in your order history. Once you've done this, they will essentially pro-rate the cost of the free tool and still allow you to pick it up in-store.

When you pickup in-store, they often will just check your ID or account number and give you the order items without much issue. If you have a more observant employee, they may see you have a partially cancelled order and inquire about it. I find it works to simply say you didn't feel like waiting for the shipping time, especially if they don't have the promotional item in-stock, but if they do, and offer to sell you the promo item in-store, simply decline and say you've made other arrangements.

I just realized the 4 1/2" FUEL grinder is the new generation grinder that was released this month (2880-20). I can't find any info on them. Anybody know how it compares with the previous gen? (2780-20).

The old hackable way doesn't work anymore. They fixed that with the buy more save more. There's still a hack though. The problem with saying it is that they'll catch on to that too if too many people start doing it like the last hack.

So, I'll say this... The only way it works now, is if you use a combination of store pickups. You gotta figure out the rest. I've done it twice now and it works. As a matter of fact I did it last week on a Milwaukee fuel chainsaw and got it for $200. Still waiting for my refund... Hint hint.
If it's a separate line item on the receipt, it's "hackable" even if you have to return items.

Don't use GC or store credit, be prepared to be screwed if you want a refund. The way those two work at both the home impr stores is...well it doesn't work well.

Simply not true.
This is homedepot's way of selling items lower than allowed by the manufacturer without violating the terms of agreement since they have exclusive rights to it.
Even if it's called a hack, it's not bad for business for homedepot, they do not care.

Doesn't seem like there is much info out there on what makes the 2880-20 better. They mention using the high output battery in the description so I wonder if the new version is optimized to take advantage of high output batteries.

Huh, I didn't think of that. The old 2780 was packaged with the now obsolete 9.0 High Demand batteries. So that makes sense.

Physically, aside from the tool-less guard and wheel changes, it looks like they changed the gearbox housing to a shorter one (comparison photo attached).

I couldn't do it with that way. I wanted to get the M18 FUEL Blower for $69 after adding all below. I watched this video to replicate. Had to pick specific Out of state store zip code 32259. Otherwise going with my local HD zipcode, the blower in cart show sup as $112.64 after adding all below.

great find, thank you! I'll try the "cancel by chat" method as I think my local HD is getting tired of my returns. Worse, I think my wife is tired of the daily HD/Milwaukee deliveries Smilie

I am looking to get into Milwaukee m18 tools. Is this a good way to enter the system? Was thinking of getting the 6ah x2 starter kit with the extra 8ah battery, and buy the tools separately (string trimmer/edger & blower)
The blower & trimmer/edger might be better suited with the HO batteries due to the need in power. HO batteries costs higher than the XC ones. If you are looking into the milwaukee m18 line up, pick a tool from the list that will use the most. Then from there slowly build up your repertoire when there is decent sales and such.

I had the older v18/m18 and I hated it, hard to clean, noisy and not a strong suction. ended up selling it and getting a ryobi. But since I'm a fanboy for Milwaukee I ended up using the "hack" for the Packout vac. Much better suction, Packout is always nice. Now I need to sell my ryobi....
