Not likely. It said value up to $79.99. Most, if not all, brushless tools are $99 or above.

I was looking at the angle grinder but gave up. Too many reviews about shorter battery life and a friction override kicking in too soon. I am all for the better efficiency, but the brushless tools really seem to get a shorter battery life instead of similar to non brushless plus the better power. If you are fine with the shorter battery life to trade for more power that's great, but it is more of a hindrance depending on how you use the tool and what the tool is designed for.

For example some of their outdoor line you will probably be running the tool at least some of the time while doing nothing. You can't really line up your cut then run the tool and have it be accurate. You will run the tool then make your cut to increase accuracy. Looking at string trimmer, hedge trimmer, and even the angle grinder here. It's not a big deal until you have a shorter battery life and turns out 10% of your use time is burnt up from that. The big thing that made this apparent for me was the new brushless 18v lawn mower. The older brushed model gets more run time side by side on a 4AH battery while cutting nothing. It's not good to stop start your motor often so the normal habit is to keep running while you turn or move over a short path with no grass. When people can get as little as 12 minutes off a 4AH you realize how much you waste while cutting nothing.
Brushless run more efficiently than brushed, so all else being equal the brushless will run longer. If you're getting shorter runs times with brushless, then all else is not equal.

Agreed. I think they engineered the new 16inch 18v brushless lawn mower wrong. I'm not sure what's going on with the angle grinder, as soon as you put pressure on it, it stops. Many YouTube videos on the grinder. There are two YouTube videos on the lawn mower. One is literally cutting no grass and each battery lasts 12 minutes. The other is running on the flattened cardboard box it was packed in and ran a similar short time. The reddit page for the mower has people attest it runs the full 40 mins on 2x 4ah batteries. Supposedly it has a standard running speed then you hear it spin faster when it thinks it needs to using more power. Based on the YouTube videos maybe some are stuck at full power doing nothing. The other option seems to be defective batteries because Ryobi sends you more if you complain about the run time.

Regardless the point is they don't just make a brushless version of the standard motor. So depending on the tool you can end up with a motor overpowered for what you need to do resulting in the same job completed at the same speed, but more energy used. Frequent start/stop in the name of conserving power puts more stress on the motor defeating the touted advantage of longevity over the tools life.

There are too many people who want brushless when they will never fully utilize what's being provided by the tool. If the brushless angle grinder requires a lower threshold of torque, resistance, friction, or whatever causes it to cutoff and stop running it's useless. You might as well buy the brushed version to save cash since you are going just as slow anyway.

Sounds like another hoax like dewalt was going to have free 5ah battery w/ purchase of tool only "sometime" late March. Guy gets a bunch of upvotes for something that never happened.
I don't think some there is a Milwaukee one posted as well showing in-store signage they out up early. This sounds like the normal Ryobi days promotion they have at least once a year. Best time to stock up on batteries even if you sell the tool later.

It did happen and it's still ongoing. It's available both in store and online.

For example, https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWAL.../315568908

It's currently oos online, but it's been ongoing since late March and I still see plenty of them in store.

Been waiting for a deal like this so I can join the ryobi club.

What's everyone's favorite tool, and what do you use it for?

I don't have many Ryobi tools, but my favorite is the LED Workbench light.

It has been extremely useful when I need to cut power off in a room, work in my poorly lit garage, and even camping!

Was last years Ryobi days deal hackable? I have no use for more batteries especially non-HP ones but there's a few tools I'd love to pick up at a reduced rate.

I have purchased at least 8-10 of these free tool starter kit deals but only keep half of the starter kits. By picking the most expensive tool for free bundle, the cheapest starter kit was below $40 after returning the tool. This deal is good for small tools that does not have brushless option and return this starter kit if you have one already. I have stopped getting non-HP battery for the last 2-3 years after I got my first brushless tool (circular saw). The 3Ah HP battery outperform the 4Ah non-HP battery on that saw. Since then, I stopped buying non-brushless tools when there is a brushless one available. My best deal for brushless tools was last fall with 4 brushless tools plus a LED lamp and starter kit (non-return hack compatible bundle) for $170.

I assume the list will be more comprehensive once the deal goes live. Right now there are only 16 items listed, last summer there were 40+ SKUs that worked with the deal. Hoping the supercharger will be added at some point.
