Not likely. It said value up to $79.99. Most, if not all, brushless tools are $99 or above.

Agreed. I think they engineered the new 16inch 18v brushless lawn mower wrong. I'm not sure what's going on with the angle grinder, as soon as you put pressure on it, it stops. Many YouTube videos on the grinder. There are two YouTube videos on the lawn mower. One is literally cutting no grass and each battery lasts 12 minutes. The other is running on the flattened cardboard box it was packed in and ran a similar short time. The reddit page for the mower has people attest it runs the full 40 mins on 2x 4ah batteries. Supposedly it has a standard running speed then you hear it spin faster when it thinks it needs to using more power. Based on the YouTube videos maybe some are stuck at full power doing nothing. The other option seems to be defective batteries because Ryobi sends you more if you complain about the run time.

Regardless the point is they don't just make a brushless version of the standard motor. So depending on the tool you can end up with a motor overpowered for what you need to do resulting in the same job completed at the same speed, but more energy used. Frequent start/stop in the name of conserving power puts more stress on the motor defeating the touted advantage of longevity over the tools life.

There are too many people who want brushless when they will never fully utilize what's being provided by the tool. If the brushless angle grinder requires a lower threshold of torque, resistance, friction, or whatever causes it to cutoff and stop running it's useless. You might as well buy the brushed version to save cash since you are going just as slow anyway.
I have the angle grinder and cut through hardened steel on a regular basis. It cuts through like a hot knife through butter. I have never had it cut out on me. I purchased it in Nov 2020. FWIW, I run it with an HP battery. Overall, I've been pretty happy with the brushless stuff. The 7 1/4" circular saw is a little disappointing compared to my Skil corded, but nothing unexpected there.

Thanks! Couldn't figure out what those tools were from the flyer. Added them to the wiki.
According to the FB posting, the only thing missing from the Wiki is the 2ah HP battery (PBP003 [homedepot.com]).

Looking to get a blower and string trimmer. Would this be a good deal to jump into if I don't have any Ryobi batteries yet? I do have a handful of dewalt batteries but don't mind getting the ryobi gardening tools.
Yeah, if you're looking to get into the Ryobi ecosystem, this would be a good launching point. Just beware, you'll get hooked and end up buying all sorts of tools in the coming years..

For those that have bought this deal and returned the batteries in years past, how does the batteries and tool end up being pro-rated on the receipt?

I'll look into it once the deal starts. Currently in the dewalt "ecosystem" so I'll look into their blower/trimmer too if there's any deals.

I don't see a trimmer on the list, can anyone link?

I'm considering the small chainsaw for cutting small stuff in the backyard.

I think there are two reasons:
  1. Battery Quality
  2. Exceeding what 18 volt batteries are capable of
In regards to battery quality, a lot of people do not realize that there are different battery lines. Ryobi makes the cheaper "Lithium" and the high end "Lithium+" battery. As of the last Ryobi days and most recent bundles, Ryobi has only been including the "Lithium" line of batteries. If you bought the new 18 volt mower/battery combo, it only included the "Lithium" series battery. This was the main reason I decided to purchase the bare tool version.

As great as the 18 volt line is, it is only capable of 18 volts. This was something I understood before I purchased an 18 volt mower. During my first cut, I scalped my front yard. My front yard is about 1,700 square feet (250 sq ft zoysia and rest bermuda) and was 4-6 inches tall. As expected, this pushed my 18 volt mower to the limits. I used up 1x 9ah, 1x 6ah, 2x 4ah, and 2x 3ah batteries. However, with a NORMAL mowing (every 2-3 weeks), I can mow all 1,700 square feet with a 6aH battery. When I used the 9aH battery, I still had two bars remaining.
If you contact Ryobi about the lithium vs lithium + line they will say the difference is physical size and maximum capacity. The maximum capacity is what they are referring to when they show a higher multiple run time. They just don't make the standard lithium lines in those larger capacities. I am sure they want people to not understand that by the infographic you provided so you spend more on the + or HP line even if all you have is a non brushed drill. When they rate a lithium at 4AH you are not suddenly getting longer run time or more power by going to +. Going to HP can give you more power if the tool is designed to pull more power.

Amp Hour (AH) is a standard unit of measurement for total electrical capacity the battery has. It does not matter how you charged the battery to 4AH total, or the label on the battery, it only has 4 Amp Hours of total electricity to provide. Some want to compare this to gas tank capacity, but the type of gas matters for how much mpg you get (low, mid, premium etc). This is more like how much fluid is in a gallon of milk. Buying a premium dean's brand of milk does not physically give you more milk before you run out. If it did that would mean it was more than a gallon and should not be classified as a gallon. If Dean's did that they would be sued for inaccurate use of standard measurements especially if they used it as a selling point. If Ryobi does this with their + and HP lines, technically the same thing.

For the 16 inch brushless lawn mower Ryobi themselves state using HP batteries will not result in more power used by the mower. that answer from Ryobi is on the pages Q&A as well. So for that tool if you specifically buy HP batteries you are throwing money away. You can't get the 9AH in anything but + or maybe HP. I am unsure about the 6AH. Regardless for that specific 16 inch brushless lawn mower you are better off using the standard plain old lithium batteries and saving your cash per AH unless you really want the larger total capacity in one battery. Ideally for that lawn mower if you could get a plain old Ryobi lithium battery in 9AH that would be preferred regardless if it's 1lb heavier than the lithium+ or HP battery. They will only provide 9 Amp Hours of electricity before being depleted.

Amp hour is so misunderstood on slick deals and elsewhere. No one seems to dig further than things like the infographic you posted and it is purposefully leaving out the details so you do buy a 2AH lithium + or HP battery at 120-150% the cost of lithium even if you don't need it for the tool or care about the weight of the battery (negligible at lower capacities).

The more I chat with people about some brushless tools the more it seems there may just be manufacturing defects with the tools themselves and not the batteries. They got a bad one twice while you got a good one. Seems the same with the 16 inch 18v brushless lawn mower. I plan to go deep with testing it once it goes on sale, but the short run times reported by reviewers is making me in no rush at all.

I realize there's a price difference, but there's just no comparison with the Milwaukee cordless grinders.
