My apologies!! As big a fan of Costco, I have always stuck with buying big purchases from them. But, I truly believe the All state Costco insurance is absolutely useless since it doesn't cover accidents. I got the Cx 4 months back and let me tell you Oled screens are lot more fragile then regular LEDs. Something hit the TV when moving and it got a tiny crack ( hardly 1mm). I had just completed 3 months and neither Costco nor LG were willing to help. Oled's don't even start once this happens, unlike LEDs. So if you have an option, I highly recommend you buy from Best Buy or anywhere else with 'Accident Protection'. That really is the best you can do for such a large investment. Because replacing the screen by yourself is more expensive that buying the TV itself.

Best Buy warranty covers burn in. But runs about 500 extra for tv this price and doesn't cover accidents.

Bought this for $3200 about a month ago. Went back to Sams Club the other day and they had them for $2000. Actually found a nice manager to reimburse the $1200!! They had the 65" ones for $899!!

What Costco should do is price adjust for only a certain item with a certain dollar amount range and force customers to return the bigger items. That makes it better. Abuse would be limited. If big $3k tv, then force customer to return the item instead of price adjustment. If it is $30 box of cashews, then price adjust.
If so, you give the room for the customer to argue about why certain product has price adjustment, yet others do not. You will be surprised the number of people who will not follow the rule (example: wearing the mask inside the wearhouse).

This TV has a pixel refresher that cycles after 4 hours of use when turned off and makes it so there is no burn in. There are a couple options for it, auto and manual. Plus it has pixel shifting for logos or images that are in one place on the screen for a long time. This can also be set to high, low or off. So, I would not buy a burn in warranty.

I'd like to decide today between this or the Sony a80j. Mostly using this tv for streaming and will be in a well lit room during the day and darker at night. Any recommendations?

It's a very very close choice. The LG is better for gaming, but since you are not gaming it hardly matters. The Sony will have a better processor and the new panel and will thus be very slightly better with motion and perhaps marginally brighter. The Sony will also have an ATSC 3.0 tuner which may come into play in future years if you plan on bringing in a signal via an antenna. It also has marginally better speakers. Besides that the LG has it's OS operating system while the Sony uses google, I prefer google but that choice is yours.
All things being equal, the Sony is probably a better choice but is it $450 better for you?? That only you can answer.

It is not dumb from the business point of view. The intention is to prevent the customer from abusing the system. This is also why 99% of the credit cards on the market have removed the price protection benefit because people abuse it so much during the holiday/black friday sale.

By allowing the Costco customer to buy at a lower price and return the item with the higher price, Costco has avoided to officially establish price adjustment benefit. This will prevent Costco from losing too much money on the merchandise (the main revenue income for Costco is through membership). You also have to consider that Costco reserve the right to cancel your membership if you have a high percentage return rate.
Makes sense now that you explain it to my ignorant self lol

This, or hold out for price drop on 65" A90J? I'm replacing an A1E with burn in. I suspect I contributed to that by cranking the brightness. So I want a TV that can handle it.

When I look at the CX at Costco, the 77" looks brighter than the 65", but I wonder if that's just because the 77" is larger, so highlights stand out more? So maybe I'd get all the brightness I need with that. Or do I hold out for a deal on A90J with its heat sink, which should better protect me from burn in?

Your only three options should be the CX,C1 or Sony A80J.

Advantage to Lg for gaming, 4 Hdmi 2.1 with VRR, SLIGHT advantage to A80J in motion processing.

In the end they are all excellent TV sets, I like the image and metal back and frame of the A80J as it's definitely a more premium tv vs the LG, but the C1 has a much lower latency for gaming and supports all the features.

I'm on the fence myself leaning towards the 77" A80J, but the gamer in me recognizes LG is better......
