I got one last time and my roast was suppose to come out medium rare but came out well done, if u want your meats perfectly to your liking I would buy something else, if you would like to be in for a surprise each time, feel free to buy this one

With a two probe RF, and a 4 probe WIFI in addition to two non remote view...I have zero need for this. The price still makes it tempting. I'd do some testing prior to trusting it personally. I know my probes work, so I would do a simple compare.

I may jump, but in general these are all getting cheaper. Cheaper isn't good if you save $10 and wreck a $50 piece of meat.

Grill n00b here with a couple questions.

I'm planning on buying a Lavatools Javelin instant read thermometer for measuring the internal temp of quick-cook stuff like chicken but would I have any use for this? Maybe for measuring the heat of the grill at the grate level? I've heard that the thermometers on the dome are pretty much useless since they measure the temperature so much higher than where the food actually sits.

They're used for larger roasts, like a prime rib roast, bbq, turkey, etc. Those are harder to monitor without pulling out the entire roast. Plus some have notification support (ex: send notification when it hits X degrees).

From my "smart cooking" experience it's much more convenient to have dedicated screen, although Bluetooth is great sometimes.
This model [amazon.com] is similar but with the screen and 2 probes, currently with 30% off coupon on the page, comes to $18.19.

I already have excellent Govee Bluetooth thermometers with the app. All their devices are covered by the same app, so no new app required.
