Any chance you can tell us what chipset/bridge is used in that aluminum enclosure? I am seeing that both of these in the OP should have a ASM235CM chipset which is supposed to be superior to the typical ASM1153E or JMicron chipsets however according to some reviews on Amazon and a few other places, some are saying the company/manufacturer is being deceptive and actually putting ASM 1153E chipsets instead of the superior one advertised.

Probably overthinking the whole bridge/chipset thing but I want whatever enclosure I get to be fully compatible with Mac, Linux, and Windows even if it costs a little more or if its not on sale. I heard about some enclosures even with the ASM 1153E having issues with Linux/Mac and not supporting certain features I want like UASP support and support for SMART/TRIM. Anyone who can give some provide some advice on this would help me out big time considering I've looked at many options and always seem to find conflicting information about whats the best enclosure for a 2.5" hard drive.

Peak speed shorter read/write access.
Dont believe me? Pick good ssd performance sata . And try by yourself with usb bridge 5 and 10gbps. Do random copy and reading. You see differrences...

But if you copy a bigfile... such as 40GB file siz. It will start at the max speed of 6gbps raw and stabilize down the speed. Unless you are using other file systems that doing cache to the RAM, try on ZFS and let the filesystem to use minimally 16-32Gig ram.

I do not know in windows but on linux....

How do i know? My works and my home office system 😬

Promo code didn't work for aluminum version, but there was a 10% coupon on the product page for me. So, it was $14.39 instead of $13.99.
