I believe most dentists say that water flossing/waterpik is not a replacement for normal flossing, but something is better than nothing. If you don't normally floss, but will use a water flosser more regularly, that's a huge win. Even better than one or the other is to do both.

To answer your question, from what I have read, normal flossing is better than water, unless you have gnarly teeth with hard to reach areas.

I love my water flosser. Is it a substitute for actual flossing? No, but if you have issues getting floss behind your molars like I do, a water flosser is essential. Plus it helps keep your gums cleaner than just flossing and brushing alone.

Is it messy? Depends on how careful you are using it. Just keep a hand towel handy to clean up the small amount of water that inevitably ends up on the counter.

There's a newer version. What's the different between this version and the new version?

I have this, got it as a gift years ago, it's nice. Still have to floss with regular floss every now and then

For your daily mind blow, Google "is there any evidence that flossing improves Dental outcomes?"

Lol it use to be hard for me to use normal floss. But after a dentist clean, it's easy. That's how much crap was on my teeth ha.

Then just keep up with flossing otherwise it'll become hard again I imagine.
