The C1 is not much of an upgrade over the CX, the C1 panel rtings reviewed actually had lower brightness then the CX they reviewed. So there is a certain panel lottery to OLED screens as well, got to hope you get a good one.
Here is what rtings said:
"The LG C1 OLED replaces the LG CX OLED, and overall they're very similar TVs. The biggest differences are that the C1 comes in a larger 83 inch variant, has the newest version of webOS, and includes new 'Game Optimizer' settings, including an input lag boost that reduces input lag by a few milliseconds. Our unit of the C1 has poor out-of-the-box color accuracy and lower brightness compared to the CX, but this could just be due to panel variation. All things considered, if none of the minor additions are essential to you, the CX may offer a slightly better value."

An Sony A80J is a different subject though...... Better colors, motion and brighter vs the CX/C1

Also, the fact that Rtings says that it might just be panel variance shows how little progress LG has made over years at making brighter OLED TV's.
Only new Sony A90J really noticable improvement in new OLED TV's since it uses a heatsink to cool down the TV making it thicker unlike the LGs. They got the 55" A90J for $2800 and the 65" for $3800 there too. Is that extra brightness really worth an extra $500 tho
