How exactly is an 8 core 16 thread 4800H a low-end processor?

Hasn't been many 2060 with a Ryzen 7 and 16gb ram for under $1000 recently probably because they're getting discontinued(or soon to be for 3060 and 5000 CPU's). Nothing looks lacking or needing of additional updates.

The fact that you have to wait for at least a few weeks if not more would be my only hesitation.

I owned an EVOO gaming laptop for almost a year. It was fantastic, my only minor complaint was the mechanical keyboard key depth seemed a little shallow. Temps were great; build quality was great.

The article you linked was for super cheap laptops, the kit they used in my EVOO from a year or two ago was a very good Tongfeng chasis with a 9th gen Intel and a 1660TI.

Do you mean the Gateway? I don't think EVOO made an i5 with 2060. If so then yes, it'd be an easy flip in today's market and you'd be getting a much better machine.
I am guessing so, since I only recall i7-7950s recently in EVOO's, even with the i7 the Ryzen is way better though.

Honestly to swap the parts only takes a few minutes, so not a big hassle. Selling the laptop yeah that gets a bit more tedious but price wise the upgrade would end up costing him very little since the old one can still be sold for close to new pricing.
going to have a hard time swapping a ryzen into an i5 socket.

My main issue with this is the display: the 120Hz panels on this gen weren't 96+% SRGB, only 144Hz had that. Haven't confirmed though for this model, just a caution

Yeah, these laptops were made where parts are pretty easily swapped, but I guess it's the entire process of upgrading, reformatting, reselling, etc. that would do it for me. The Ryzen is definitely preferred, but unless you're utilizing the CPU to it's fullest potential (data crunching, etc), I can't imagine it being that big of an upgrade in the gaming department (solely what I'm using this laptop for.) I figured the Ryzens were better all around, including the battery department, but the entire effort and the risk of not getting your asking price (thus increasing your final cost) isn't worth the upgrade in better CPU (which I figured most of the population wouldn't take advantage of.) That's why the increase in performance wouldn't justify the price since I don't think the performance is that vast.

Personal choice. I have no idea what a used Evoo would go for in the second hand market.

Anyone familiar with the nits on this panel? Checks all my boxes, would prefer a 1440 but it's a great price!
As per the answer given in the Amazon Product page by Seller, it is the typical budget 250 nits 144 Hz Panel with slightly over 60% sRGB color coverage.

I had the EVOO 17.3" I7 9750H w/ 2060, mech keyboard for $999, and it was a mix bag.

First, the LCD had quite a few stuck pixels (probably because they're using rejected LCD?) which was solved with a dead pixel video.

After that, the lappy ran like a champ. Temp and noise were amazing. After about 2 weeks, the keyboard backlight crapped out. Tried everything including a full system reformat but couldn't get the backlight back. Luckily, Walmart allowed it to be returned.

If you need a gaming lappy right now, this is a fine deal but personally, I'm waiting for a 5800H w/ a 3060.

I'm looking at the pictures of the chassis from the link, and it looks like there are no side vents, just vents on the very back and bottom. So was wondering if anyone has any experience with this laptop's cooling performance? I know Dell's G5 SE series (with the Ryzen CPU & 5600M) had bad cooling issues due to lack of side vents and heat going straight up from the bottom of the monitor. Will this suffer similarly?

Actually what makes windows 10 pretty nice is that you can easily swap a hard drive from one computer to another no reformat needed and in most cases will boot up just fine even with different hard ware in place.

The other benefit outside of gaming for the Ryzen is multi tasking if you have a lot of tabs and applications running constantly it will be way speedier.

Even second hand cause the parts are pretty good this will get close to original sales price, also the chip shortage is helping with keeping prices even for used items up there.

Good observation. I have the previous generation Evoo 1660Ti which does have the side vents, and after a year of use it constantly thermal throttles even with a undervolt and cooling pad underneath. A lot of hot air is blown out of the side vents in mine, so I would imagine the thermals of this newer gen Evoo with no side vents to be even worse.

I have the same laptop though mine has been a dream for close to a year now. It's loud but i play with a headset on anyway and my wife doesn't think it's that loud. I would have loved a Ryzen version of this, but I agree you can get a 3060 for close to this price, it makes more sense to get that if you can.

Download the drivers from their site and store them somewhere if you buy this. I had the OP version but then their website went offline with no way to download drivers from them anymore.
