Many Walmarts have the 4, 6, & 8TB My Book External HDs on clearance. The 6tb are around $30 and the 8tb around $50. First discovered in this Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoar...at_walmart.
You can check Brickseek.com for local stock. They tend to be locked up behind the electronics register, and at least some sales associates have been reported as not eager to find them, so look for the orange boxes.

Deal History includes data from multiple reputable stores, such as Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. The lowest price among stores for a given day is selected as the "Sale Price".
Sale Price does not include sale prices at Amazon unless a deal was posted by a community member.
Hmmm. Brickseek shows limited availability as well as varied pricing at the walmarts close to me. Since brickseek is usually wrong, it may be worth a check.
Got lucky and grabbed 5 of these in Walmart in Avon, MA. Right where BS said they would be. The store employee was initially fully cooperating after I showed him the page from Walmart.com with this drive listed for $269.99. When he started ringing them at register, his chicken brain went into overdrive, and he tried to ring it any which way not believing the $39.75 price per unit.
Now going through each of them to ensure these were not previously shucked and internald drives replaced as per that reddit article. So far so good.
