HDMI 2.0 should be the norm these day. 4k screen are pretty common setup for WFH and this laptop is fast enough for it. Just a shame it can only do 4k 30hz. it seem the ryzen version does come with HDMI 2.0 tho.
It's a 1080p economy laptop.
What resolution/bandwidth are you expecting to need on its secondary display?

Beware the speakers onthe flex 5- ryzen 4500u were very low volume. These are intel, but still I recommend people hearing them in person at a B&M store before buying them

most laptop speakers range from below average to poor. imo, not much of a difference between that. it's always been headphones and external/bluetooth. so onboard speakers never played into any laptop buying decision. i got a 20 dollar bluetooth jbl speaker that really fills a room quite well.
I tried most laptops in this range from Costco about 3-4 months ago. While I ended up spending extra and going with the LG Gram 14 at $999, I do remember that the Flex had a better feel + screen than the Pavilion, which felt plasticky to me.

All laptops should come with a bare minimum of a 1920x1080 resolution screen (especially with chipsets being as powerful as they are now), but that certainly hasn't happened. We're STILL getting 720 screens on laptops.
I'm actually surprised this one comes with a 1080 screen.

That Costco HP is 1366 x 768, which is pretty astonishing considering that's the same resolution of the laptop I'm looking to replace that I bought for $600 nine years ago

It's not Lenovo, it's intel's fault. They did not add hdmi 2.0 until 11th gen
