-ONE CLEAN SOLUTION - Optimize cable routing and maximize space in the chassis to improve airflow for a better ventilated system.
-EASY INSTALLATION - During installation only need to use two cables from the power supply to power the CONNECT. While the power supply itself supports the +12 V, -12 V and +5 Vsb rails, the CONNECT converts this power to provide the +3.3 V and +5 V outputs from the +12 V rail.
-PREMIUM HYBRID FAN CONTROL: Unsurpassed silent performance in Fanless Mode. The fan control button at the back of the power supply allows users to customize cooling needs by selecting between Seasonic S2FC (fan control without Fanless Mode) and S3FC (fan control including Fanless Mode).
-10 YEAR WORRY-FREE WARRANTY: Our commitment to superior quality.
The backplane is not designed for every chassis. Case modding skill may be required.

I'm having a hard time seeing the point.

The only thing I can think of would be it would make cable management a little cleaner? There's always much more slack to components that need to be dealt with, but all that also depends on the dimensions of your case.
I like the idea...could evolve into something down the road.

It's basically identical in tech specs to their nearest product, the full modular PRIME GX-750, and while their PSUs are the same dimensions, the CONNECT block adds an extra 12.99" x 2.52" x 0.83" (+ however much space the thick cable on the CONNECT takes up).

TBH I don't see the point in this product either if you have a case that hides your PSU and storage drives under a shroud, and you're also fine cable managing by sorting them behind the mobo mount plate (aka behind of the case). It looks like you'd still have to cable manage behind the mobo plate anyway, even if using this product.

Seems it's for people who don't have a PSU+storage shroud, have extra case space to experiment, and/or just want to try out a novel product.

I think this guy does a good job of explaining what it's trying to do, whether or not most folks would find it useful is debatable.

Assuming this is a similar design(looks like it) to the one Linus Tech Tips covered, it basically allows the power supply to run more efficiently since it only needs to convert to 12v(and maybe 5v for this particular product) and the "daughter PSU" does the rest of the voltage conversions. I'm no engineer or anything, so I am paraphrasing a paraphrase...

AFAIK, most modern PSUs derive their 3.3V and 5V from the 12V so there's not any advantage with this design compared with other PSUs you can buy today. This product does seem to allow much cleaner wire management though.
