I'm right handed and there's no game console or pc for that matter that I've controlled movement with the right hand. Movement has always been controlled with the left hand. Maybe I'm going crazy. 🤡

Same here. I've been playing arcade games for over 40 years and the only games I (also right-handed) can ever remember controlling with my right hand are the Pac-Man games.

I've got something like this from Xtension for an arcade cab and I really like it. Xarcade makes some good cabs, so I can only assume their sticks are pretty decent as well. Not sure of the inner-workings of this particular setup, but the one I've got is on a MinIPac and it's really configurable, but preconfigured to MAME.

If you're gonna use the trackball, I suggest using standalone MAME rather than the one integrated with Retroarch. Standalone is a bit more confusing to set up, but it's far better with "specialty" controls.

looks like USB to me "mac/pc support included"
https://shop.xgaming.com/pages/x-...pc-or-mac/

the mess of wires looks like the interface/kit to hook it up to a console (not included), on that page there's a picture of it being hooked to a PS2 using that.

I got that recent $99 deal for the all-in-one Legends system which appears similar, but that also included its own system/streaming box where this is purely a controller. I must say tho the workmanship on this looks really nice
Is that still available?

I got the non trackball version years ago and it's a decent piece of hardware. I swapped out the joysticks and buttons for better ones and use it with pc and retropie. It does take some tinkering with

Yeah, I think the big difference between the legends one and this one is gonna be the quality. Xarcade is one of a few places that specializes in arcade hardware, so usually they use good switches in their buttons and joysticks - the same ones that are used in legit cabs - so you know they'll last.

I know nothing about the Legends though, so I'm just making assumptions.

I bought one of these a long time ago. The trackball version is needed so you have enough space between the two people playing. Mine had significant input lag which was awful especially for fighting games which is what I wanted it for. I ended up gutting it and rewriting it. Solid components. The input lag is a real deal breaker for me though.

Buyer beware.

I bought one of these a few years ago. Didn't care for the spongy feel of the sticks, and the ball had a gritty feel when spun. On top of that, rubber feet had been sloppily glued on, warping/cracking some of the the plastic veneer. I contacted customer support about the cracks in the veneer and they blamed it on me. I mailed it back it for a refund, but they wouldn't even pay for the return.

This stick is complete trash. I had the 1st version and later was given the later version free. Both terrible, run the other way.

I don't have one, but I've been lurking on the legends posts. This one has the pinball flipper buttons that some of the legends cabs have. The Atari one doesn't appear to. If I were to pull the trigger on one, I would like it to have that (even if I don't end up using it).

What else is needed to play old school arcade games? A laptop/computer of some sort, and some type of emulator?

I'm an old fark (kind of) and haven't kept up on this stuff... Would like to relive my old days at the arcade when my parents couldn't find a babysitter and wanted to get rid of me for a few hours. (Minus the black fingers from digging through my 80's, striped, short short pockets filled with quarters). Yes I also had knee high socks with 2 stripes at the top. High fashion!

You need this, a Raspberry Pi, Retro Pi, and ROMs.

Cool, thanks, I appreciate it, rep sent your way... What are some good sites to get the roms? I think I'm gonna make one of these my next project. I restored an original Pac Man cocktail machine but only having one game gets old.

just switch your hands like others are doing, if you cross your arms, it would work well haha
