Waist has a little flex to it. It's silicone lined for not slippage. Overall, I'm super impressed with the quality. I ordered 5 more pairs

Thanks OP, bought 10 pairs for our high school Wraparound donation closet - part of the school uniform is tan shorts/pants. Only 36/38/40 left, but the kids come in all sizes so that's fine.

got on the costco site, saw an awesome deal for fridge (needed one) and dishwasher and bought it, never got the shorts, LOL

Looks like Tan went out of stock right as I placed the order. Buy still picked up 10 of the other colors.
