Being a 300lb man (at times up to 365lb), I have learned to buy the FIRMEST, MOST EXPENSIVE mattress you can tolerate and afford. Yes, at first they feel like you're sleeping on a granite slab, but add a good 2 inch memory foam layer and they are pretty comfortable - PLUS YOUR BACK WILL THANK YOU! The heavier you are, the faster your body will compress a mattress. Having a good quality, very firm mattress will slow this process down considerably. Just my personal experience.

At first you will probably HATE your very firm mattress, over a few months as it softens up a bit, you will wonder why you ever bought a soft saggy mattress!

It's very difficult to research mattresses because the industry sells the same mattress under different names at various retailers. But if you compare the number of coils, the composition and thickness of the various layers, you can usually figure out competing products at different retailers, then just buy from the lowest price. I like us-mattress.com because they give comprehensive info about relative firmness, coils, layers, total weight, user reviews, etc., about their products. You can use this as a starting point to compare similar mattresses at other retailers by trying to match up some of the info. It's not always perfect, but it's the best way I have found to make an informed decision, in an industry that doesn't want consumers making informed decisions.

This stuff isn't worth anywhere near the claimed "worth" prices.

(Not speaking about this specific mattress) I always found that whole notion "you get what you pay" kind of crazy. What if I got something on sale does the quality drop since I paid less compared to someone who paid the full price. What if I bought a sh*tty over priced product would I still "get what I paid for". Measuring quality by price is absolute lunacy specially if you are a savvy buyer who is always looking for a deal.

All size mattresses of this model appear to include the base for free. I purchased the Twin XL for $389. https://www.macys.com/shop/produc...D=12043912

Note too, if your purchase is over $790 (I think), free white glove delivery is included. I was able to get two bases free online by purchasing 1 queen and 1 twin xl. But when I tried adding two of the same bed, it would only add one adjustable base to the cart. I called customer service and was able to buy 3 Twin XLs in one order and each will come with their own base - plus white glove delivery.

I'm pretty sure I have these same bases from Mattress Firm's free adjustable base deals. They work fine. No frills. I generally only want to lift my head anyway. Even when I don't use the lift, the base provides a nice solid surface for the mattress without worry of slats busting. For $400 for a mattress and base, can't go wrong. Using them for an airbnb, so hopefully they are good enough for a few nights sleep at a time.

I don't see the one you are talking about online, but all the one's Costco have have a higher coil count. Not sure how much that matters, but they are definitely different.

base only worth $399

any king size deal?
Yes, costs nearly $900. Cheaper to buy two Twin XLs, but have to call to get two free bases. https://www.macys.com/shop/produc...ryID=25931

More of a gamble on an unknown mattress. I bought the mattress for the base and figure if the mattress work that is just a bonus. If I return/trade mattresses, hoping I get full credit without returning the base.

My opinion, with mattresses you get what you pay for. I don't have this particular one but I'm thinking it's one you would normally put in your guest room.
$400 is alot for guestroom, BJ's mattress goes in the guestroom

Agree with you, but their point is they believe this never was $1200 as they advertise the full price is. If it's always on sale that is the actual price. There are laws about it that are not normally enforced. As always look for trusted reviews and try to check the price history on sites (here for normal sale price, camelcamelcamel, etc).

How are these compared to

Novaform 14" Comfort Grande Plus Memory Foam Mattress Medium

I got Novaform 3 weeks ago replacing 15 years old Sealy mattress from Costco So far it's comfortable, but i am not a picky sleeper.

You must not like your guests to stay very long. $400 will but you a crappy fiberglass mattress made in china.

My mom bought a super soft mattress that was killing my dads back... So you know what he did?

He cut a piece of 3/4 plywood, wrapped it in a sheet, put 2 yoga mats over it and sleeps on that on his side of the bed lolol

I cant only sleep on super firm mattresses or even on the floor.
Quote from EdEd1190 :
The problem is, a piece of 3/4 plywood costs more than a new bed now. Have you looked at the skyrocketing price of lumber is lately? Almost $100 per sheet after tax where I live.
Love it, that's hilarious! LMAO

I like a soft fluffy plush bed to fall into, but my back hurts when I get up. I mostly sleep on my sides, but I turn over on my back when my sides start hurting. What do I do?

This mattress comes with a 10yr warranty. And believe it or not, they will honor that warranty for things like "Mattress has lost form" or "no longer bouncy", if that's the case. We just did this with a 1yr old pillow top that had indents where we sleep. Warranty process was a breeze...after someone came to check it out we were told how much of a credit we now had to spend on whatever we wanted at the store.

Just figured I'd share this experience cause I had assumed the process would be awful and it was actual a breeze!
