Being a 300lb man (at times up to 365lb), I have learned to buy the FIRMEST, MOST EXPENSIVE mattress you can tolerate and afford. Yes, at first they feel like you're sleeping on a granite slab, but add a good 2 inch memory foam layer and they are pretty comfortable - PLUS YOUR BACK WILL THANK YOU! The heavier you are, the faster your body will compress a mattress. Having a good quality, very firm mattress will slow this process down considerably. Just my personal experience.

At first you will probably HATE your very firm mattress, over a few months as it softens up a bit, you will wonder why you ever bought a soft saggy mattress!

It's very difficult to research mattresses because the industry sells the same mattress under different names at various retailers. But if you compare the number of coils, the composition and thickness of the various layers, you can usually figure out competing products at different retailers, then just buy from the lowest price. I like us-mattress.com because they give comprehensive info about relative firmness, coils, layers, total weight, user reviews, etc., about their products. You can use this as a starting point to compare similar mattresses at other retailers by trying to match up some of the info. It's not always perfect, but it's the best way I have found to make an informed decision, in an industry that doesn't want consumers making informed decisions.

This stuff isn't worth anywhere near the claimed "worth" prices.

(Not speaking about this specific mattress) I always found that whole notion "you get what you pay" kind of crazy. What if I got something on sale does the quality drop since I paid less compared to someone who paid the full price. What if I bought a sh*tty over priced product would I still "get what I paid for". Measuring quality by price is absolute lunacy specially if you are a savvy buyer who is always looking for a deal.

The cached page still shows the promo but, you have to click on the red link that says 12 month financing + more offers.

I didn't. Instead, I signed up for the Macy's card that gives you 25% off up to $100 and charged $400 on that to max it out, bought discounted gift cards on Raise and used the 10% first purchase promo ($115 in gift cards for under $99) and used those for taxes/delivery.

So if my math is correct, once the statement comes in, I'll pay off the $300 left after promo, the total is just under $361 (since I still have $38 in gift cards). Bonus, it forces my 14 year old to clean and reorganize her bedroom - some things are priceless. šŸ˜‚

Just an update. I have a Macy's Furniture Gallery. I went by to check it out. Not a great mattress, but fine for the price. The sales rep had no issue finding the free adjustable base and the charge here for delivery was only $30.

The base doesn't get added for free in cart at checkout, am I missing something? I can see the promo before adding to the cart on the mattress page.

I think the deal is dead. No more free base.

Call or chat with them. My store rep had a book and it listed the free adjustable base with the mattress.

No luck. The agent said the promotion ended on Sunday and removed the item from my bag without telling me. That was very rude. Anyways I think this deal is dead now.

Agreed. For the price-point, it's certainly not the worst mattress I've tried. Might need to throw a topper on it for a little more pressure point relief, but at least it felt supportive enough for my back. I've been mattress shopping for what feels like an eternity and, for the money, I won't be upset if this only lasts me a few years. I'm over the search! Smilie

EDIT: Had a $10 CB offer on my AmEx for Macy's, as well. Others may want to check their cards!

Went to Oak Brook store. Associate Khezran knew about the free adjustable base and said it's good til the end of the month. She was very efficient and worked through it quickly. Added $35 for delivery. Open new charge card for $100 off.

This is definitely a medium mattress. Look elsewhere if you need firm. The Sealy summer rose was firmer but $300 more. Also has free base.

This mattress comes with a 10yr warranty. And believe it or not, they will honor that warranty for things like "Mattress has lost form" or "no longer bouncy", if that's the case. We just did this with a 1yr old pillow top that had indents where we sleep. Warranty process was a breeze...after someone came to check it out we were told how much of a credit we now had to spend on whatever we wanted at the store.

Just figured I'd share this experience cause I had assumed the process would be awful and it was actual a breeze!
So Macy's or is it Sealy who honored the warranty?

Just got off with rude rep who says they won't honor free base & that it ended midnight last night. Anyone else having this issue & has anyone figured out how to get it to work online?
