Being a 300lb man (at times up to 365lb), I have learned to buy the FIRMEST, MOST EXPENSIVE mattress you can tolerate and afford. Yes, at first they feel like you're sleeping on a granite slab, but add a good 2 inch memory foam layer and they are pretty comfortable - PLUS YOUR BACK WILL THANK YOU! The heavier you are, the faster your body will compress a mattress. Having a good quality, very firm mattress will slow this process down considerably. Just my personal experience.

At first you will probably HATE your very firm mattress, over a few months as it softens up a bit, you will wonder why you ever bought a soft saggy mattress!

It's very difficult to research mattresses because the industry sells the same mattress under different names at various retailers. But if you compare the number of coils, the composition and thickness of the various layers, you can usually figure out competing products at different retailers, then just buy from the lowest price. I like us-mattress.com because they give comprehensive info about relative firmness, coils, layers, total weight, user reviews, etc., about their products. You can use this as a starting point to compare similar mattresses at other retailers by trying to match up some of the info. It's not always perfect, but it's the best way I have found to make an informed decision, in an industry that doesn't want consumers making informed decisions.

This stuff isn't worth anywhere near the claimed "worth" prices.

(Not speaking about this specific mattress) I always found that whole notion "you get what you pay" kind of crazy. What if I got something on sale does the quality drop since I paid less compared to someone who paid the full price. What if I bought a sh*tty over priced product would I still "get what I paid for". Measuring quality by price is absolute lunacy specially if you are a savvy buyer who is always looking for a deal.

Still waiting. Delayed delivery into July. Was told bed was unavailable, so July date in question.

Got mine about a week ago. I really hate to say it, but it's been pretty bad. I constantly feel like I have a pinched nerve while lying on my back. I've tried three different pillow heights and other sleeping positions and it's just killer on my back all around. The top layer of memory foam is cheap and completely useless. You instantly sink into the gel pad layer and it's super uncomfortable. The worst part is there is already a divot forming where I sleep and an obvious difference when moving away from it. I'm a fairly normal weight too, 180lbs. I thought I'd pick up a latex topper to offset some of this stuff, but I don't trust it to hold up no matter what I do. It's going back and not soon enough. I should note that I've gone through a handful of mattresses over the last year for various reasons, so I'm definitely a bit picky.

I guess one bright point was that delivery was a great experience.

Does the frame have to be returned with the mattress?

I haven't put in for a return yet, still looking for something else to replace it with first. My gut says they will require any freebies to be returned, as well. I'll circle back here once I initiate the return and update.

Thanks. Trying to decide whether to cancel my delayed order of 7 mattresses for new house to avoid the hassle. Are the frames worth keeping? May just sell the mattresses for cheap and keep the frames.

Honestly, I'm not sure how to best advise you. Comfort is totally subjective - you may find this mattress to be all you need. Cheap components are less subjective and it's pretty obvious it does not have the best internals. (But what did we expect at this price point?) Were you able to try it out in the store? I'd definitely recommend spending some time on one before canceling.

The frame seems okay. Obviously not high-end, but I was decently surprised. Not sure you could do much better for free. Smilie Depending on the mattress, I could see them maybe sliding around a bit if they're on the firmer side? Really no complaints so far, though.

Thanks. No worries. I have a Casper for the master, so my comfort isn't the issue. These are for short term guests (Airbnb and family/ kids) so just trying to get an idea of whether they are good enough to avoid reviews of the house being dinged. My backup plan has always been to buy beds in a box knowing these were cheaper than I could buy the frames alone, but I don't need the frames that much so may just cancel some of the beds and roll the dice on others.

Ahh, I see. Personally, I could put up with a few days on it. But people are unpredictable and picky, so go with your gut here if you think it might affect business. I see this one is on sale again, so if you decide to cancel a few and they end up working out, I'm sure you could snag some more during the next holiday sale.

Quick side question: which Casper do you have?

Costco version from in store. Think it is most comparable to the original if I remember my research. I'm happy with it. Haven't had spring mattresses for over 10 years. Can't stand how they result in sink holes for my back, but bought these to get the adjustable bases and hope they will be good enough for occasional use.
