Be sure to look, there are versions labeled as "new subscribers". This software is used by old people such as me! I go back to 1999 with Microsoft Money as far as financial stats. Not that I need to go that far back, but that is what is keeping me with Quicken.

As far as I know the free options do not let you migrate Quicken data into their platform.

I tried it, it had a very hard time downloading transactions from pretty much all my financial institutions. I looked into it slightly, Wave was using some old communication method that was not supported by many institutions anymore. Maybe that's changed.

Their business model is dead. Not only did I now need to pay them a fairly heafty yearly fee, they were possibly charging my bank (Wells Fargo) a fee too, who was charging me $36/year for the privilege of using Quicken. I switched to personal capital, similar to mint, about 2 years ago. I miss a few of the tools in Quicken, but cloud tools are too convienient.

You probably need to get the Money "Sunset Edition" available for free from Microsoft.

We still use Microsoft Money on all our Windows 10 computers and have no problems. (The only caveat is that most banks only let you download the Quicken "QFX" format, and you need to convert to the Money "OFX" specification - easy conversion).

Yes! I miss Managing Your Money, and would still be using it if it were Windows-compatible.

For what it's worth: I currently use Quicken 2013. It's still running fine, with no annual subscription fees. I believe Quicken 2017 was the last non-subscription package, and CDs of those older Quicken versions are still occasionally available on eBay. If you go this route, you may want to go here to find and apply the latest patch to update the program:

I used it for tracking all my expenses by categories. Need to do so to support Schedule C expenses. One can create as many categories and tags to catgeorize the income and expenses. Reports pretty basic but sufficient for my needs.

It is a lot cheaper to do this than using something like Quickbooks. Also, much easier.

I just use the available reports from the brokerage detailing YTD recoginized gains and losses. Plus their income report pretty much gives me a picture of what is going on.
