Total Wireless uses Verizon network, so does that mean severe throttling during busy hour? And very little or no hotspot at all?
No throttling with total wireless (unlike visible) but they do have prioritization for post paid customers at peek usage times (meaning the pre paid customers like total wireless will see slower speeds at those peek usage times). Have seen my service drop from the typical 80mbps to 30mbps at peek usage time in a major city. That is not a speed difference a typical person would even notice, but I just like knowing so test these things.
They offer 10gb of hotspot on their plans that are $35/mo and above. Only the $25/mo 1gb plan does not have hotspot. And note my other comment about the free rearward program and using a referral code…

Too bad trade-in value for this phone has been worse than iPhone 8 on T-Mobile.
Since it sells new from total wireless for $200 with full one year Apple warranty how it is unrealistic to expect a big trade in price. It is a tremendous value phone, and inexpensive. These phone companies know how to market and make you feel that you need to spend $1000 on a phone that you do not really need.

I got $800 trade in credit fur this iPhone se at Verizon. Pixel 3 will also get you $800 trade in credit
You also got a commitment to paying a high monthly plan, but let's not think about that, lol. They know what they are doing, Have yet to see a comparison of Verizon post paid being an overall better value than outright purchase of a new phone plus total wireless plan for two years. The only difference is if you don't have the cash to buy the phone upfront then you get a new phone sooner with Verizon commitment and you pay it back over time via their absurd monthly service fees. I am conservative about money and think that if you can't afford to pay for the phone outright then you probably shouldn't be buying it.

The battery is awful on the SE2. It won't last day of normal use in my experience so it's not even considered a good backup phone.

Can anyone comment on how the Total Wireless "prepaid airtime card" works? Like, can you postpone the start of the 30 days? I am assuming it is tied to the SIM card, so if I do not use the SIM card until later, will it start at that time (instead of right away)?

Yea, it wasn't a surprise. I was looking to move 6 lines from metro to Verizon or tmo, and this helped tremendously.

That is not my experience. I suspect you have a bad battery or have poor cellular connection with whatever provider you use and the battery is being run down trying to find a signal, or are running some app like a state COVID trace app that is sucking your battery life. The latest version of iso give great detail 9n what apps are consuming the most battery. Check it out and you mat discover something about your phone. Good luck.

The "card" of whatever value you select comes preloaded on the sim included with this phone. The plan's 30 day period starts the day you activated it. You do not have to activate it immediately but you will have to ask them if they ever expire. If switching to total wireless I would recommending activating the plan a few days before you the last day of your current providers billing cycle as there are sometimes delays with activation (like you enter the wrong PIN number and your current provider rejects the transfer and bills you for another month of service…

In for 2 - for trade-in. Some cash for the 13 when it comes out :-)
Do I have to go to Apple Store offline in order to trade-in? Or the online form on their website works just fine?

I've already got the approved $195 for both online, so I think it's fine.

I just ordered one of these on Friday, and it was delivered today (super fast shipping, btw). The phone is in flawless condition.. It literally looks like it has never been used before. Came with an unopened OEM charging brick, cable, and lightning headphones. Booted up the phone, battery health is 100%, and the phone is under Apple warranty until 3/9/22. I plan on just using this as an iPod touch (for music and taking photos/videos out on the river... so, I don't break or lose my main phone), but ordered an R-SIM just to see if it will work with my T-Mobile SIM. If it does, I will probably switch back and forth from my OnePlus 8T to this iPhone SE every day or two. Wish I could give this deal more than one thumb up. I know it was $99 a few weeks ago, but even at $122, this is a killer deal.
