I went to another store where Brickseek said they had 2-3 in stock. None were on the shelf but the clerk found some in the cage behind the counter. Only 1 500GB but 2 1TBs. That store's clearance price was $73.87 for 500GB and $93.81 for 1TB. I bought all three because I needed 3 of the 500 GBs and the deal was basically near the end of stock.
Then I found 2 different stores near me that had close to the lowest prices but all out of stock. One store was 500 GB at $24.92. Went to the electronics counter and the guy said he couldn't do any returns and I had to go to customer service. Went to customer service and explained what I wanted to do. She verified on her phone the clearance price of $24.92 and then refunded my $49.56. When she went to ring it up at their store price, she kept refreshing her phone and this $149.99 price showed up. She said she had to go ask her manager because she needed an approval to override the web price. Manager said no go because the web price was a Walmart reseller so couldn't match the price. As a Slickdealer, I wasn't going to accept that reason so I continued to work her until finally she asked the CS girl to scan the box and it scanned at $24.92 she said oh then ring it up if it's still in the system! Bingo.
On to the next store a few miles away, that CS girl did it all in one transaction. Took the 2- 1 TBs I paid $93.81 each and credited me the difference for a final price of $49.35 each!!!
Hope this long winded post helps someone out if you find a much higher price in stock location and take to a low price location that is out of stock and have then refund and do new purchase at their lower price. A lot of work but huge savings on something I really needed. BTW, each store said it was up to the store to come up with the clearance prices and stores would not match other store clearance prices.
So it is not on clearance anymore I guess.

Edit: this is for the 1TB version on the other thread.
- Bought the stupid "newer" 1 TB SSD first and had to return it. No need to check SKUs/UPCs if you're already looking at them in the store. The "newer" one that isn't on clearance has two separate read/write speeds written on the front, one is 1050 MB/s, forgot the other. The older SKUs on clearance only have one speed rating, 550 MB/s.
- Actually found the 500 GB and 1 TB SSD in stock at one Wal-Mart, but not marked down. $56 for 500 GB, $140 some for the 1 TB. No problem, "return/rebuy" is my middle name. I have never been refused at BBY, Target, or Wal-Mart in well over a decade. "My friend paid for it" - "I forgot to use this gift card. Oh, it's empty? Great, now I have to wait for that refund to clear for no reason." - "I used the wrong card." - Whatever feels natural.
- The 1 TB SSD was actually marked all the way down to $4x.xx at the store I already had to return the "new" 1 TB SSD at. I deserve an Oscar for the face I made when the lower price came up.
- The store with the 512 GB SSDs marked down to $22.40 [but OOS] absolutely refused to re-sell them. Lady said something about having to wait for them to go back through returns and on the shelf so that LP wouldn't go after her - I believe her. She already had a "Team Lead" back there to help out with someone's bungled .com order, so I [politely] asked "Think it'd be worth talking to him about it?" - "Sure, if you don't mind waiting. He'll probably tell you the same thing." Manager stopped as soon as he saw "SANDISK" on the receipt. "Sorry man, I have to return these to the manufacturer as soon as I scan them, I have no control over it." Well, at least they were up front about it and didn't return them first and then tell me "sorry lol, mine now."
I have one more store to try way the hell on the other end of town. There's a good takeout place nearby, I'll make a trip out of it. 3x 500 GB SSDs for three little sisters, and a shucked 1 TB mSATA drive to stick in an old computer that had a stupid mSATA riser card, all for about the price of one 1 TB SSD. Perfect-o.Yes. I cleared my store on those and the 1tb. Now they have the ones you mentioned at full price
Just return telling them price dropped since you just bought it last week. I haven't had any trouble. Was just able to get a pair of Astro A40 for $15 yesterday.
