I don't think they did away with eBay Bucks program. I think they just modified it. You don't earn 1% on every purchase all the time, instead you can only earn when they have these special promos and you have to qualify for them. But I do hear you, eBay has been getting worse and worse for both sellers and buyers.
Now that Amazon carries huge amounts of chinese knockoff items at the same or lower prices, I find myself shopping less and less at Ebay

I guess they decided to go back to the eBay Bucks program..lol... Business must be bad for them... Should have never cancelled it. With them charging 20% to sellers, a 5-10% promo makes sense... Glad to see that they finally see the light..

They canceled the 1% cash back on all purchases, and everybody that signed up for the eBay bucks program will automatically qualify for the 1% cash back. And that still remains canceled AFAIK. These 5% (sometimes and very rarely 8% or 10%) promotions are dished out occasionally to selective (for example I didn't qualify) accounts only.

I'm getting 3.3% cashback via eBay MC they promoted on every purchase even gold/silver coins. It turned out to be 2% for 1st $1k purchase then 3.3%.

Surprised didn't receive the deal on 1 of 2 accts that is not so active that I sued to get all the time...

They did do something right and distance themselves from PayPal.
Never understood how they were able to strong-arm people into using PP.
CC, DC & GC HAD to be processed by PP !!!!

It's kind of a complicated history..
First, Paypal was offered as an easy way for people to pay back in the day since PayPal handled electronic payments and offered an alternative to mailed payments, and meant it was something eBay could avoid dealing with when it came to electronic payment processing.
Then, they bought PayPal and pushed for it's use more and made it difficult to use mailed payments (money orders, checks, etc).
And finally, they still own PayPal but are trying to distance themselves from it because if they process their own payments, they get to keep more of the fees as revenues.

They did that to shill their credit card, which earns you 1% on every dollar purchase.
