This looks great! But...

- does it have backlit keyboard?
- USB C charging?

Those are my only concerns.

FYI: I think last time (this year) it was $429. Thanks.

It does have USB C. No Backlit keyboard. But it does have a micro SD slot. This is a steal in my opinion.

It was, but with the older 1032G1 cpu, G7 graphics is much better than G1

Oh, so this is an updated version. Go figure. Double the storage as well as the updated processor.

I like the new Xe graphics for their ability to stream anything without breaking a sweat or killing the battery.

Why won't they add a backlit keyboard?

No, it wasn't. That is still $429 but with Ice Lake i5-1035G1 which is significantly slower in CPU and more than 2 timers slower in GPU.

I'd consider if screen weren't glossy. Sadly it's glossy and low nits (246 nits), so doubly bad. Really a shame they couldn't make a version with a better non-glossy screen for $100 more or so.....with the extra M.2 SSD slot in the bottom, microSD reader, and Iris graphics, it's a sweet little budget machine. If you'll just be using in areas not brightly lit by sunlight, and don't mind glossy (blech), not much reason not to pull the trigger if this is your budget. And might want to throw in the protection plan, as I doubt it will hold up great to drops.

Glossy and low nits (246 nits). Kills it for me but a great budget machine for some people for sure.

These specs seem pretty solid for the price. I'm in for one. Hopefully they fixed the hdmi out. My sister has last year's model and it won't display anything past 1920x1080 on her ultrawide or my 1440p screen. Didn't try it with a 4K display. If this could do 1440p out, these specs make it a pretty solid laptop. Yeah the screen is shit, but after experiencing TN panels on laptops in the early 2010s, I'm more than happy to take a dim ips screen. I don't have high hopes on the battery though, so we'll see how it goes.
