I have both the Milwaukee and Dewalt.
Quality slight edge to Milwaukee. Love the square edges on the sockets. Why has no one ever done this before?

However, if you are in the Packout system, this set by Milwaukee is outstanding and the only way to go here. You will thank yourself everytime you use it.

The Dewalt case is a real pain in the a$$ to get things in and out, but the quality is very good.

This was down to $199 at Home Depot back in 2020:

https://slickdeals.net/f/14568047-199-99-milwaukee-3-8-and-1-4-in-sae-metric-ratchet-socket-mechanics-set-w-packout-case-106-pc-home-depot?src=SiteSearchV2Algo1

But I haven't seen it drop this low, or show up in stock, for a while. Good enough deal to finally pull the trigger. Thanks OP.

Are all the sockets 6 point?

Anyone own a set of Gearwrench sockets and can give an honest comparison to this set?

These are better than gearwrench. And the case is also a million times better.

I have this set and love it. I wanna say they are all 6 point if my memory serves me correctly.

By the way there is also a half-size set available in either Metric or SAE (English), and comes in the packout 1/2-width case. I think it retailed for $119 but you could find it at $99 sometimes, so similar price/discount for 1/2 as much stuff.

In many cases you many only need one size system or the other, plus the whole thing is of course 1/2 the size and weight if you want a set for you car, for example. Many newer cars will just need Metric. Most "home" stuff and older cars will be SAE. Unfortunately a lot of things are mixed.

And yes the Milwaukee socket equipment seems to be excellent quality. I also have the new DeWalt and I think it's fine but I'd give the edge to Milwaukee. If nothing else, just in the finish and feel, plus the no-roll sockets.

I would wait for the DeWalt. That set you get 3 size of wrenches and sockets and even some specialty ones for $150 or less ($85 last BF) and allen wrenches too. You buy this, your getting less than half in tools and probably over kill on what your using them for. As the common complaints, the case is heavy and sockets could pop out over time.

I have the 192 and has been more than sufficient for my needs for the same uses as you.

Nope, wrong. This set comes with:

3/8" drive: 6-19mm & 6-19mm deep
1/4" drive: 6-15mm & 6-15mm deep

That's 44 metric sockets. The $119.99 metric set has 28 sockets. It contains the same 3/8" sockets (14 reg and 14 deep) from this set, but none of the 1/4" metric sockets. So you're losing SAE but you're also getting a substantially worse metric set.

That 192 set has 1/2" ratchets and sockets. I guess this set is aimed at lightweight stuff for like bike mechanics or something?
