I set it up and seasoned/burned off chemicals in the wind with no wood and it went out a couple of time because I was trying to keep temp around 350. I have smoked twice now on the lowest setting for 5-6 hours with some mild winds and have had no issues with flames going out. I think having the wood chips/chunks helps with the flame not going out as they are fairly close to the gas. Having a wireless thermometer where you can set alerts for when temp drops below a certain point can help detect when flame might be out if it's really windy.

I set it up on Saturday when I got it and put it away in the shed. Sunday early in the afternoon I pulled it out of the shed, emptied it out and coated the insides and grates with lard. Burned it out for about an hour on high then I smoked some turkey thighs and ribs with a simple dry rub. Ran it roughly for 240F for most of the cook, which was pretty stable after some adjustments with the dampers, and then raised the temp a bit to put some bark on the meats before pulling them at the end. Used a mix of pecan and cherry chunks that I had on hand, flavor and color was excellent.

The temp gauge that came with the unit isn't the greatest or most accurate so I'm going to change it out with another I have. I'll likely make additional mods as I get my grove dialed in with the unit.

Overall I'm pleased with it at this price point. Sure as hell beats the constant hovering over my 22" Weber Original Grill for a long smoke.

If it is still in your cart this deal works. I was able to use the 2831 store and ship to home for FREE instead of $35. I had some difficulties in my cart but I had to change my base store to 2831 and refresh for it to stick with free shipping to home. Got a smoker for under $107 after tax and now I wait to see if it actually ships.

I tried it twice so far:
1- The temperature is stable when I set the lower side vents open 25%. And upper back vent open 50%.
2- My pavers have a slightly slope and I think that's why I had some leaking (20 grease drops, not that much) from bottom. You may want to put some cheap concrete blocks if you don't want any accidental grease drops.
3- I think the temperature gauge reads 10-15 degrees lower than the actual temperature. That makes sense, because the upper vent is opposite side so the heat wants to escape from shorter route.
4- I tried wings in it, and the wings pieces that are close to the door where the smoke is escaping are getting more heat than the rest that are in the middle, so that makes me thing sealing the door is a great idea. Until then don't place your meat close to the door.
Cook the wings in medium heat for 80 min and then put them in aluminum tray and sauce them as you wish and then seal with a aluminum wrap. Finally put it back for another 30 minutes. It turns out really good Smilie

This is live but you'll need to use the new link.It took me a few tries b/c it tries to increase the price to $250 after selecting the delivery address to another location outside of MN to NC but eventually it went through. They must have a surplus of these MN. This is a good deal $250 to $100 so jump on it and good luck.
