Chuck design seems interesting. Anyone know if this works in practice? Might be able to replace impact driver and wrench with one tool?

I was shopping for a similar kit earlier tonight and settled on this. Better deal IMO. Newer CorePro batteries and both are 4.0AH. I'm willing to gamble on the renewed/refurb aspect with Amazon's return policy. Also technically the newer/updated drill and driver model.

I have the similar set with the 4ah batteries it's great. It can remove lug nuts up to 195 ft lb and the batteries last forever

Other than the battery capacity what are some important differences between these sets that made you go with the refurb model? I am also interested in one of these sets.

Yes and no. While you can put a socket directly on this Bosch "freak" without a power robbing adapter, it has the torque typical of an impact driver, 1800 in-lbs (150 ft-lbs), so is really weak compared to most impact wrenches.

I'd say it's geared more towards driving hex-head lag bolts than auto work.

A friend of mine brings his over every time that we work on his 20-year old car and though he tries real hard to justify his purchase, it has consistently been of no help whatsoever.

I'm not sure I could speak to the differences as i only have the 1 set I ordered. I just know Bosch has quite a few models of drills and impact drivers and I was leaning towards the newer versions.

Depends on when this one was made. Probably not. I have two. The older one hasn't broken. The newer one broke after light usage. I sent it for repair twice! First time they replaced with a similar model. Second time they replaced with a 2018 refurb. And before that, I took the first back to the store for a replacement. I am not a pro with pro needs by any means. If I had to start over again… probably should have avoided Bosch for all sorts of reasons.
