I've had this in my cart for a while waiting for the price to drop. It's been cheaper (like for Prime Day) but seems like a good enough price to pick it up.

No.....bear minimum you'd need a 44 Magnum or a huge can of bear spray to dissuade a charging bear and you probably would not survive with either of those.

That depends. Are you good enough at throwing a tomahawk to stick into a moving target at any distance up to about 50 feet, and throw it hard enough to split a bear's skull?

If so, Conan, I'd say you have a good shot. But shouldn't you be crushing your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women?

The Smith & Wesson lead throwing device is recommended instead:

You'll have bear attacks you would have otherwise not had

You are just going to irritate the bear, while no guarantee it will be small or medium.

With plural hikers, you just need to be faster than the slowest one..... But, a .357 or .38 double action revolver type is a good weapon to carry.... point and pull with plenty of penetration. Head shot is always best.... body shot, they need time to bleed out that could be to your demise.

Random question, does SD now allow gun deals? I see S&W and I was hoping for a pistol or rifle deal.
