I totally agree with your statement about going with less expensive polarized sunglasses if one doesn't want to spend the money.
That said, for all those reading be careful - many Chinese brands will use inferior lenses. What this means to you is that the darkening of the lens will dilate the pupils BUT the lens will not have adequate UV protection. Therefore you're letting a ton of UV light directly into your eyes which can be incredibly harmful.
Generally speaking of the lens is polarized it's naturally a higher quality so, from my understanding, there is a materially lesser chance of damaging the eye. (I'm not an opthalmologist - just what I've been told by a few of them).
Looking at the pictures, still seems overpriced. What's the alternative when you want to avoid Italian monopoly on sunglasses production
You buy the knockoffs like the rest of us....
I really like glass lenses, but the blue/amber reflective coatings all scratch eventually. I will pay good money for glasses, but typically look for polarized + glass lenses under $30....then just buy more. If you find some you like that are cheaper, check for them on eBay. You can sometimes find discounted glasses there for a fraction of retail sales.
