The first manufacturer of repute that adds a fingerprint sensor to one of these Z-Wave touchpad locks will get my money. I've got the Schlage version of this in three locations and would change them all out the next day for a quicker fingerprint reader version with the number pad as a back-up. Hell, they can even keep the physical key/keyhole as I haven't used one of those in over a decade and have no use for them. Just one more potential security exploit someone can use to gain entrance.

That sounds like the biggest security risk....

Fingerprints are readily duplicated with scotch tape and some graphite AFAIK but I dont know. Lockpicking lawyer also shows the simplicty of most key locks too...

Somebody has watched way too much TV. I would much rather have a fingerprint sensor than a traditional lock key hole as it relates to security. Besides, everything is a compromise between usefulness and security. In this instance I would use the fingerprint scanner almost exclusively with the number pad only being used as an occasional backup. I haven't used a keyhole on any of my doors and well over a decade. For me it's just a threat vector that is offering me no convenience at all. That's the only reason it even comes up.

The chance of someone going through that much trouble is much lower than someone using the old rock key through window into your house.
