All those recent reviews are not good.

Not seeing great reviews. I have the amazon key version of this and it works amazing with my smartthings but this doesn't appear to have the same functionality

this thing sucks...i've got this in my basement that i got off of woot for 10$ less. it looooves to lose connection; and honestly i'd uninstall it, but i like it's auto lock feature, which requires nothing but having charged batteries to work.

I own 3 of these. Hear are my Pros/Cons:

Cons:
- These do not work without a hub. I have the version without Bluetooth, and I'd still would get a hub for reliability if I had these Gen 2s.
- They get into this finicky mode if you unlock/lock too rapidly and start locking/unlocking continuously until you pull the circuit board or batteries. It's weird, I don't get it.
- Battery life is ok. Rechargeables die too quickly, standard AAs last about 3-4 months depending on usage
- Could really benefit from a door close sensor
- Need a couple of extra steps to get them working with SmartThings. Simple fix, but still a con
- Battery removal should be easier. Requires unscrewing 3 screws (or 2, I honestly left the bottom one off for easier access, no issues)
- I wish there was a keypad option I could hook up into these somehow

Pros
- Not sure what that other guy is doing, these have NEVER dropped connection. I always know if my doors are locked and can easily lock them if I forget to when I'm not home, or unlock if I leave my keys at home confidently.
- Better than August products by far because of their Zigbee connection. August always dropped wifi connection, yes, even with a dedicated 2.4 Ghz connection. We can argue that August supports Zigbee/Zwave, but the point of them was that I didn't need a hub with their wifi, which didn't work.
- Design is good for newcomers and guests. Simple to figure out how to unlock the door, unlike August where people just stare at it and ask for help.
- Works great with SmartThings, but they don't setup correctly initially. You have to go into SmartThings IDE and label them as doorlocks. Not sure why that doesn't happen on it's own, but easy enough fix.

Overall, this is about as good as it gets for now, and they're incredibly affordable. If you have good luck with August products, more power to you, but those were a joke for my household, completely unreliable. I've had good luck with these, but I still hope a better product is developed soon.

yale b1l is what i have for my front door and works for that since it has a keypad. these are good for doors that you just want the comfort of being able to lock or check lock status. I had a yale b1l on my basement door but swapped with this - the keypad was just unnecessary.

also pick up one of those smart garage door hubs - they often go on here for less than $30 - im assuming u have a garage. Thats also a great way to start.
