I've been eyeing this garage door for awhile and it's finally on sale. Normally $245, now 20% off for $195 with free shipping or free store pick up. This garage door is CA compliant since it has a backup battery.
I also got the professional installation for an additional $87. Also not a bad deal considering quotes I got from contractors were $150 to $200 just for install.

Amazon also has the same garage door for the same price

At the rate and severity of CA wildfires, the chance that someone will be affected by one during their lifetime may exceed 77% https://static.slickdealscdn.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

Sooooo, yes you are right and little did I know but now I DO and since I have 2 doors I can possibly do this on my own on the other side.
I have whats called a Torquemaster Bar (Spring was in the bar) and replacing that was more expensive. The guy that came was really professional and yes it was a $325 "Conversion" to tension springs.
Watching the videos and watching him do it plus the cost of the product listed here: https://www.amazon.com/product-re...ilter-bar; I think I might attempt it for the second door lol.
With the side that broke being heavily used I couldn't wait to get my education up and shopping but totally agree with the point above!

It works most of the time from within the garage, but step outside and I have trouble opening/closing. The wireless keypad right outside the garage has troubles as well.
My old opener was one that still used dip switches, not sure what frequency it was, but it worked at the street when I pulled up to the house.

Contact the 3rd party installer again, they should have some kind of warranty on the install. Mine has 30 days.

There are just some fantastic things about this opener!!!
I tried a working battery from old remote in the new one. Same result. Range is super small. Seems to work all the time if I stand directly under the opener, otherwise its intermittent, even inside the garage.
