We have a cabin in a humid climate and everything tarnishes.... it just became a habit to put a coat of wax on at least all plated metals. I figured that one out as a kid, when my Mother would notice the brass was tarnishing a little... a real pain for a kid that just wants to be outside. As well, a lot of people collect .999 silver bars that will absolutely tarnish... but a coat of car wax stops it the same as with .925 silver jewelry.

Unlike the typical LED light that are a pain to replace and almost throwaway, these have replaceable bulbs. The only potential issue I saw with these is the electronics. But, having been through that as well, you can replace the touch on, or just remove and put a nice looking knurled on off switch in the top of the base, or both and still have the three way touch mode only when turned on.

These caught my attention and after checking a dozen or more sites, this is a good price.... From what I saw on completed eBay, these would bring at least double there. I bought one set and thinking about buying another one or two as gifts. As you probably know, most things in life, including gifts, are typically a perception of value and from around the web, these would appear to be worth a lot more retail.

Wondering what factory wholesale is on these and similar, maybe we should buy a container full and give your boss a cut to promote.

Alright, my volunteer shift replacement has arrived... Enjoy

Reading your long-winded (in a good way) post made me feel like I was having a beer with my wise neighbor down the street. It's why I love this place.

Comparing prices, this is a deal that many are selling on eBay for a lot more.... and they are still under retail pricing elsewhere.

Personally, I like crystal, where even this 9% lead Chinese K9 is prismatic. Don't expect any quality plating, so if you want to maintain the original sheen of the 'metal' parts long term, before putting the shade on, put a coat of car wax on them. Granted, a bit of a pain, use a soft bristle brush to get excess out of any places a cloth will not in the polish part. Kind of like when waxing a car, you will also notice any imperfections now while still within the return window.

5-volt is far from obsolete. It's actually a good choice for a night lamp. Slow charging is better for the long term health of your battery, and why would you be in a hurry to rapidly charge your phone with PD/QC/etc. when you're going to be sleeping anyway?
You prove the point about consumer ignorance over how to properly charge a smart phone. Time + heating together shorten cell life. Smart phones are designed for smart chargers with the old 5V tech backwards compatible for emergency use.

QC 4+ and higher allows the battery to call for precisely the voltage required throughout the charging cycle. Backwards compatible to phones designed for USB C-PD. One can use an app to read cell temp and voltage while charging and can observe damage from over-voltage, over-heating with old school 5V dumb power supplies.

I might use the lamp for charging a cheap battery bank but that's it. Smart users don't plug smart phones in to strange USB outlets. Now if the lamp maker had only put a regular ac outlet there...

If I can help someone, or learn something, it is all good...

Just thinking here, you or someone had to put some thought into your ID.... or perhaps not would be kind of scary.... lol

Would you rather pay a fee to support and join this site, or have affiliate commissions pay for everything required to run a site (that is substantial) and then free for you to choose the deals that suit you? Granted, many are not real deals to me, but there are plenty that are if you need it.

Speaking of...my mom had her bathroom re-done (long over-do). I made sure the light fixtures were rated for moist conditions. Also a vent fan/light combo was installed (bathroom never had a vent before...just a window in the shower). Fast forward 6 months the overhead light and vanity light began rusting. Pretty dismaying...I read you should put car wax or even marine wax on bathroom lights to prevent that.

Probably a good idea to apply to new porch lights, mailbox, and outside door handles too. They all went from brass to rust over time.

SD isn't a non-profit. They're a business who's main concern is maximizing revenue. If they thought charging a fee to use this site was in their best interest they would do it. Another user pointing out to the community that not all "deals" are real is valid.

Is that how you read.... "We may get paid by brands or deals, including promoted items. –Slickdeals" ....

I took it is a duh, no siht Sherlock. This is a free site for participants supported by affiliate links.

Meanwhile, I like these, I have priced these, I even bought these.... and unless you or anyone can show a better deal for similar, this is the deal.

If you don't want to plug into a 'strange' USB outlet, why bemoan the fact that it's 'outdated 5V' in the first place? On the contrary, I would be more inclined to trust a no-name 5V than a no-name PD or QC; it's very hard to get 5V USB wrong at this point.

It's funny how you keep talking about latest and greatest but you're talking about QC. PD is the new standard everyone's converging to. QC is on its way out. 5V is a primary, spec-ed voltage in both QC and PD. It's not a backward compatibility or emergency.

It's true that your QC/PD equipped phone will switch to a lower voltage when temperature crosses a threshold, but lower temperatures are better for your battery even below the threshold. When you have the luxury of time, which you do when you're asleep, there's no reason to go higher than 5V.

Just saying 'smart' over and over again doesn't make it so.

You obviously do not understand the latest advancements in cell phone or smart charging technology. You appear to be merely repeating old stuff you've read on the inter web.

We aren't hearing testimony from you on your observations of cell voltage and temperature while using 5V power supplies let alone generic ones that are not typically well regulated.

Look, this is just a deal on a dumb table lamp. I caution folks not to plug their smart phone in to it because some say they intend to do just that.

Clearly you have not kept up with Qualcomm QC 4+ and beyond or other technologies. Not going to argue with you.

Nobody wants to rebuild or rework brand new, but with plated items introduced where water and/or high moisture is to be, a quick coat of spray polyurethane on the inside of say, a porch light and a coat of wax on the outside does make items last longer... a lot longer. Most of that rust you found started from the unprotected inside and came out; much like even auto's rust.

And then powder coating came into style that now, most anyone can do with a small investment for small items.
