Not a bad deal compared to other third party grips
I've tried the Mei ke one, which operated fine for me. The only dumb thing about the Mei ke is how the toggle switch acts as a power button, not a simple "Lock" like any other grip I've seen.
I got the Sony for my A1 only because I want to avoid any potential warranty issue if problems arise (it has 3 recurring problems lol)
For fellow A1 users: a battery grip is great for 8K video recording because not only does it double the battery capacity, but it also moves the heat-generating batteries out of the main body and further from the other components. This helps with overheating.
I have owned the urlhasbeenblocked grip for my older Sony a7, and it suffered the same problem that Jimmyqballs pointed out. For my A1, I went with the Vello model and that one's lock switch works properly.
I use my grip pretty rarely (only when I know I'm going to be recording video for a long time) which is why I went 3rd party, but if a vertical grip is part of your main workflow than this first party one is likely worth it.
