Looks like a good deal, I'm not using bladehq anymore after their data breach a couple of months ago, I don't feel they did a very good job of informing or offering help/solutions. Just an FYI if you've never bought from them before, I would want to be informed. The info isn't on the website that I saw, but if you google bladehq databreach there is a lot of info.
I am thrilled and surprised this thread is full of positive conversation, and not "what can this do that my five dollar Ozark Trail can't."
I like Benchmade, and if I had spare knife money right now, I'd be tempted. Thanks, OP.

I agree but it's early, give it some time for the naysayers to come out ha
I personally like benchmade and I usually wait for my favorite models to be discontinued before I purchase.

Has anybody else had terrible customer service with Blade HQ? I placed two orders with them. The first one was fine. From the second order I received a defective knife. It had cosmetic flaws. I emailed their customer service and it took forever to receive a response. I had to fight with the customer service rep to get any responses at all. I finally asked for a manager after about 4 emails and that request was ignored. I ended up going to the manufacturer of the knife and I never went back to Blade HQ again.

One spring failed in mine in a month, and the other failed a month later. BTW, I don't flip, only opening and closing normally. The omega springs are particularly weak in the Bugout since it is way too thin.
They will fix the knives for free, contact Benchmade support.
I haven't handled the carbon fiber bug out. I do have the carbon fiber griptillian dlt exclusive. The carbon fiber scales are amazing and I expect Benchmades other carbon fiber scales to keep that quality and finish. I already have the 20cv bugout, so no need for similar duplicate models. I did pick up the mini Osborne!
I don't see the point spending above $100 on a knife that size. People tend scared to use it like you would a knife under $30. Cut anything you want, scrap anything off or cut up fish bait.

There was a time when I babied my knives because I didn't want to scratch them up but now I like to buy my cake and get fat on it too lol. But yes I know people who baby their knives. not unlike people who buy trucks and/or mod them to go off road and it never touches mud, tows, or the bed is never loaded.

I used to be in the knife-as-object rather than knife-as-tool camp, but lately I am using all my knives for pretty much anything. And I've screwed up a couple of the grinds trying to improve my sharpening skills. That sort of thing used to bug me but now my thought is: if I'm out using a knife for a task, that means I'm out doing something and not in lock-down or self-isolating or anything like that. Hanging around the house looking at a bunch of knifes that were never getting used really turned my head around.
I don't doubt the omega springs can eventually break. That being said I own 8 and have given a few as gifts and none of them had any issues with the omega spring. I don't fidget with them or open them hard so idk if thats why I haven't had any issues.
That definitely helps if you baby them, but they're just not really reliable. I'm one of the few who hate to disassemble knives (dealing with loctite), so it's a bit frustrating. They can make better springs for these, but don't.
With that said, apart from some QC issues Benchmade is known for, their designs are nice. The Bugout has been a huge hit for them and everyone except those with huge hands praises the model.
Longtime Benchmade fan, and the 940 Osborne has been my daily carry. Then I picked up a Bugout on a sale, and I see why it's so popular. Great design.
One nice thing about Benchmade is you can get replacement blades. I have a few Spydercos with broken tips I'd love to get a replacement for but they are not offered from the manufacturer.
I'm a huge knife guy, and these are right up there with in terms of quality. I've had several BMs over the years, and never had an Omega spring break, or any other issues with them. You can send it back to BM for a sharpening and a tune up as well.
